missing those folder Icons

I've recently noticed that main sections now lack the Pink Folder icons which denote updates and new posts. I've also noticed that in some sections they manage to appear and re-appear on a heart's whim.
I've noticed this on several different computers.
bring me back those pink folders!

the folder icons on the directory pages (such as 'trance in the world') have been removed to make those pages load faster.
the ones in the section pages are still there and seem to be working fine to me. Needs checking.

Ok, I understand the need for faster load on main sections (Dir pages and such), but some pages (links, for Instance) had their icons appear and re-appear. not always consistent.
just thought i'd bring it to your attention.
maybe it'll be prudent to share with us, the users, the updates being run or about to be run on a monthly (or bimonthly) basis - that way people won't be surprised and will know what to expect - Just a thought.
