As our planet Earth orbits around the sun at a mind-blowing 108,000 kilometers per hour (67,000 miles per hour), we rarely pause to reflect upon our greater surroundings, the vast cosmos that embraces our solar system of the Milky Way galaxy. Many great human civilizations have relied upon the cosmos not only for navigation, but also for tracking Earth’s position around the Sun. On March 21st, we will pause to recognize a pivotal point in Earth’s orbit that has been observed and celebrated by our ancestors for countless centuries. This point is known as the Spring Equinox, which occurs when Earth’s rotational axis is pointing directly perpendicular to the direction of the Sun (see Figure 1.1). Since neither hemisphere is closer to the Sun at this moment, both of Earth’s hemispheres receive equal amounts of light (see Figure 1.2), and the sun passes directly overhead at noon along the Equator (see Figure 1.3). For many, this day represents the initiation of the new beginning offered by Spring, and all the magical growth and rebirth that will occur in the weeks following the Equinox. Dont think I will be able to make out for this one. Flight rates today itself is prohibitive. Too sad to miss it but we will meet on 24th.

Josh Stahnke is a full-time college student at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and has been studying computer science for nearly two years now. Josh quickly went to work spreading Psytrance around his large campus by DJing at small social gatherings and hosting small events in his dorm room. Since then, Josh has begun organizing larger events, utilizing different venues across his campus to introduce a wide variety of students to Psytrance. Even when this young man returns to his family's home in Woodbury, MN, he continues to organize exciting Psytrance events with the support of his parents. Constantly spreading cultural awareness and encouraging uniqueness in others, Optic Mind seeks to open the minds of his audience through his powerful Psytrance and Downtempo DJ sets. Derek Deida has been responsible for a large portion of the mind-bending decor which has been witnessed at recent Midwest Psytrance events. With the help of his partner Carli, Derek has helped to create some of the most elaborate pieces of event decor, including intricate altars, massive backdrops, and even a pyramid-shaped dome. His creativitiy and skills are not limited to art, as he is nothing short of magical while commanding the decks. Energon casts an vortex of harmonious, high-energy Psytrance, that still maintains heavy bass lines and rhythms. His performance is not one to be missed, as Energon is guaranteed to expsyte the dance floor to the next energy level!
HardkoreNate (Minneapolis, MN) / Full On Psytrance / UncensoredUs
Nathen Gallardojohnson (HardkoreNate) has been an integral part of the Minnesota electronic music community for many years. He is a major part of the massive organization 'UncensoredUs', which organizes some of the largest electronic music events in Minnesota. Thanks to HardkoreNate, Psytrance has recently become a major part of many electronic music events in Minnesota. HardkoreNate is also a major part of the organization 'The Rift', the organization which recently began putting together full-scale Psytrance events in Minnesota. By helping to spread great tunes and great times throughout the state of Minnesota, HardkoreNate has truly helped increase the amount of cooperation and collaboration within the entire Midwest Psytrance community. E11even (Denver, CO) / Full On & Power Psytrance / Mountain Vision
After first being introduced to the music of Sasha & Digweed, Liz Wheeler has been immersed in the electronic music community for nearly ten years now. E11even's interest in electronic music exponentially grew, and after experiencing several electronic music events, Liz became a DJ. Over the past ten years, Liz has mastered the process of sifting through massive amounts of music, allowing her to uncover only the most high energy, Full On Psytrance tracks available. As she prepares us for the darkness ahead, expect to be throttled by this female DJ from the mountains of Colorado as she brings her veteran experience to the Psyowa dance floor for the very first time!
Ascension (Peoria, IL) / Power & Dark Psytrance / Chilluminati
Even though his first Psytrance event was just a year and a half ago, Ascension is a very experienced member of the Psytrance community. After his interest in Psytrance was first sparked at Earth Dance 2007 (Illinois), Kevin immediately began gathering perspective and experience by attending Psytrance events all over the country, including Gaian Mind Festival, Gemini Festival, Sacred Earth, and others. Kevin also graduated from the University of Iowa in 2007, with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. Since then, this young engineer has been devoting an enormous amount of his free time and energy to help out with numerous Psytrance events around the Midwest, in addition to organizing his own. A force to be reckoned with, Ascension is sure to lay an extra special beat down this Spring Equinox, as he leads us on the dance floor as the night begins to grow dark.

Chris Stark (Collision) & Trevor Piefer (Alien Audience) both currently reside in Iowa City, IA, and are two of the key contributors to the Mindoutpsyde organization. With the help of these supersonic shamans, Mindoutpsyde has successfully organized over thirty Psytrance events since December of 2005. Dance floor warriors of our time, these two individuals can be seen bolted to the stomping grounds at virtually every Psytrance party in the greater Midwest area. Their relentless stamina is fueled by a genuine love for the music, which allows these two metal-legged individuals to stomp with unbelievable intensity for several hours on end. Abraham Rodriguez moved to Iowa City, IA, from St.Paul, MN, to study Biology and Medicine at the University of Iowa, in pursuit of his dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. In addition to his scientific understanding of the Universe, Abrahm also has a strong understanding of music thanks to seven years of classical piano lessons and recitals during his youth. Combining his deep understanding of the physical Universe with a strong desire to catalyze positive changes for our planet, Abrahm sends waves of positive energy rippling throughout the dance floor. This positive intent, this enormous release of optimistic energy, allows Abrahm to whip dance floors into a tribal stomping frenzy. Zlatan Krizan is a Ph.D Professor of Psychology at Iowa State University in Ames, IA, and has been DJing Progressive Trance for years. After discovering Psytrance, his style shifted towards the beautiful melodies and deep, groovy bass lines of Morning Psytrance. In addition to educating a massive student body, this guru of the psyche has also begun producing Morning Psytrance in addition to DJing it. Jagno Gaia (Duluth, MN) / Goatrance / Suntrip Records
Producing Goatrance is not the only thing that Jeremy Green does in his free time. In addition to being a full time college student at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, he also teaches people to snowboard at a nearby ski/snowboard resort called Spirit Mountain. Jeremy Green, or Jagno Gaia, also works with Bobby Ognyanov (Los Angeles, CA) via the internet to produce unique Goatrance tracks under the alias 'Aerosis' for the notorious Suntrip Records, an international Psytrance and Goatrance record label. Recently, Jeremy has teamed up with Josh Stahnke (Optic Mind) to spread positive vibes and cultural awareness via small Psytrance events in Duluth, MN, and Woodbury, MN. The music of Jagno Gaia speaks for itself, enlightening any fortunate listeners with multi-layered, three-dimensional, new-age Goa melodies that are sure to melt your mind.
