Mindoutpsyde & Ascension Presents: Gratitude - A Celebration of Life
January 2nd, 2010
Des Moines Social Club, IA
Mindoutpsyde's 4th Year Anniversary

Flyer: http://mindoutpsyde.com/images/gratitude_double_small.jpg

In honor of all the mysteries of the Universe and our never ending journey to understand what was created before our time, we would like to give Thanks. Thanks to all those with the drive and ambition to understand the Universe we live in, and Thanks to all those who use this understanding to make our planet a better place. Thanks to all of those who hope and dream of the infinite possibilities which are present in the cosmos. Thanks to all those who simply look up at the sky and wonder, for without wonder there is no imagination, and without imagination there is no innovation... and lastly, Thanks for whatever the reason is for there being something, when there could have been nothing. [/center]

Sacred Geometry and Music:

"It is through geometry that one purifies the eye of the soul." -Plato

The discovery of the relationship between mathematical geometry and music is attributed to ancient mathematician Pythagoras, who realized that if a string was stretched and then plucked, that different harmonizing notes, called octaves, were produced when the string was pinched at certain points along its length. Pythagoras believed that this harmonizing property of music was healing, as it could "harmonize" an out-of-balance body, and this belief is still held by many in our modern time. Hans Jenny, a physician who pioneered the study of Cymatics, observed the formation of complex geometric figures in a medium of sand when vibrational sound waves were passed through it. Although Dr. Jenny did not make healing claims for his work, his study of Cymatics has verified how sound and vibrations are inseparably linked to geometry and mathematics.

Stonehenge & the Trance-Dance Experience:

No place on Earth has generated as much speculation and theories as the standing stones of Stonehenge. After driving for miles through the rolling hills of the English countryside, the sight of this unusual structure is truly awe-inspiring. Walking around it gives one the sense that this ancient structure is extremely important. For over 5000 years it has stood silently on the surface of the Earth. It has been excavated, X-rayed, measured, and analyzed, yet it still taunts us with its mystery to this very day. Despite all that has been learned about its age and construction, its purpose still remains as one of the greatest mysteries of our planet.

Around 3500BC the semi-nomadic peoples that populated the Salisbury Plain began to build the monument now known as Stonehenge. The original construction was a circular ditch and mound with 56 holes forming a ring around its perimeter. The first stone to be placed at the site was the Heel Stone. It was erected outside of a single entrance to the site. 200 years later, 80 blocks of bluestone was transported from a quarry almost 200 miles away in the Prescelly Mountains. It is thought that these blocks were transported by way of rafts along the Welsh coast and up local rivers, finally to be dragged overland to the site. The bluestones were moved within the circle, and the gigantic stones that give Stonehenge its distinctive look were installed. Some of these massive stones weigh as much as 26 tons (52,000 lbs.)! It remains a mystery how such enormous stones could have been transported from the distant quarry by what were thought to be primitive people.

Stonehenge is theorized to be something along the lines of a calendar-like tool or an astronomical observatory. More recent studies suggest that Stonehenge was actually used as a tribal dance arena. According to a study of the acoustics of the 5,000-year-old stone circle, Stonehenge's megaliths reflect sound perfectly, making the stone circle an ideal setting for listening to repetitive, trance-inducing drum rhythms. It is speculated that the music played within Stonehenge consisted of rhythms which were played at a tempo of about 160 beats per minute, a rather fast tempo which resonates with the structure. It is rather fascinating that this tempo is also the tempo of many trance-inducing genres of electronic dance music. This information suggests that our ancestors were engaging in the sacred trance-dance experience long before we were...

On Saturday January 2nd 2010, Mindoutpsyde invites you to join us, on our 4th year anniversary, for a celebration of gratitude and thanks, in a setting that allows your mind to explore new possibilities as vast as space itself. This winter holiday, we will share our love and light with all of those around us in one of the strongest and most ancient forms of communal bonding, the tribal trance-dance experience, as we say thanks to this beautiful Universe for giving us this opportunity to exist. With two stages of intelligent music and lighting, art exhibits, live visual displays, UV-reactive decor, a multi-dimensional 30,000 watt sound system, and a special midnight drum circle and interactive blacklight performance, all packed into 3 spacious rooms of an all-night music and arts venue in Des Moines, IA, Gratitude promises to invigorate our mind, body, and spirit, as we dance to give Thanks for this opportunity we call Life.

Dragon *LIVE*(Gulf Breeze, FL) /dharmaharmony
http://www.dharmaharmony.com

Dragon is the trance music project from Florida, USA. He has been DJing Psytrance since 1999, performing coast to coast in the US, and recently, his music productions have landed him in Costa Rica and Canada, performing with the best. Dragon co-founded the Dharmaharmony Records label in 2008, releasing their first compilation in September 2008, followed by the release of his brand new album, 'IN.Formation', in January 2009. Dragon's sound is completely unique, combining mysterious darker sounds with subtle melodies and ferocious bass-lines. "I like to think of my style as deep and driving, laden with intelligent progressions, while leaving lots of room for the imagination. Also, I strive to capture the deeper soundscapes of the late night experience, and maintain the traditional trance elements within a darker overtone." This promises to be an unforgettable dance floor, experience as Dragon unleashes his music on the Psyowa dance floor for the very first time!

KJ The Kid Wicked vs Lucy in the Sky (Minneapolis, MN)
http://www.mplsdub.com

Kj Meath is the founder of MplsDub, and he is originally from the Forest Lake, MN area. KJ started mixing Drum n' Bass in 2001 and it wasn’t long after that he was lost to the darker side of electronic music. As a co-owner of UncensoredUs, he continues his reign of impacting Minneapolis’ underground scene with his rugged, darker styles of electronic music. Kristen is from the Chisago, MN area, and she was first introduced to Drum n' Bass in 2005. She was instantly hooked and set forth to become a DJ herself, and in 2007 she began performing under the alias ‘Lucy in the Sky.’ Along her musical journey she eventually fell in love with the grimey sound of Dubstep, and soon after, she became the first female Dubstep DJ in the greater Minneapolis area. Her wobble-heavy track selection and her superior mixing skills combine to make her the reigning queen of Dubstep in Minneapolis. Don't miss this special tag-team set as Kj and Lucy drop some deep, dubby, bass-heavy Dubstep!
