My thoughts exactly. "Black Clouds and Silver Linings" was their worst output ever. They once again prooved that they are stunning musicians, yes, but lousy songwriters with no sense for profound emotions within music.
Not sure if this is going to change without Portnoy. It just feels very awkward that there should be any Dream Theater without him...he basically IS Dream Theater.

Even though I had pretty much lost interest in Dream Theater after the release of "Systematic Chaos", this piece of news still shocked me, sort-of. Mike Portnoy, founding member, driving engine, and biggest fan of the band, leaving...and the band deciding to carry on without him...that's just bizarre.
