Finally i'm going 64bits and i have some concerns regarding vst (32 bits). I read on Ableton site (forum) that you should use a specific software to run your 32bits VST instruments in a separate folder while some of my friends told me they just run these VSTs the regular way (one folder for both 64bits and 32 bits)and it works fine. Can you share your input/experience on this subject?

Also my new laptop comes with windows 8 and the guy from the store where i order the laptop told me that it's possible that some of the software i use (ableton, cubase, vst, etc...) might not work yet with windows 8. Is anyone working with windows 8 and facing this sort of issues?

Thanks in advance

no reason to use 64 bit plugs in ableton. I have plenty of plugs with 64 bit versions...but use the 32 bit versions and I have no issues.

Ableton themselves recommend that you install the 32 bit version.

Windows 8 should be compatible with ableton.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Even if you're running 64bits Ableton live?

I tried using 64-bit Ableton, and wasn't very impressed, too many of the synths I rely on aren't yet 64 bit. If you want to run 32 bit vstis in Live 64 bit you need a bridge like jbridge, which admittedly wont take up much memory when you factor in the fact taht 64 bit Live can use as much ram as you have; the fact, for me, is/was that I have no use for all that extra memory, I still haven't maxed out the memory using 32 bit (4gb RAM max) Live.           .

So we must definetely use a bridge software to run 32bits vsts in Ableton Live 64bits? My mates must be doing something wrong (or telling it wrong) as they swear they dont use any bridge software...they actually showed me and it looked just like a regular setup. One vst folder with both 64bits and 32 bits vst.
