Maybe someone could help me out on this:
I have a Virus Ti Snow which is also my soundinterface.
Thru my Snow I have my Nord Rack connected.
But working in Cubase (don't know about other sequencers), I get a really annoying delay when playing my Nord.
So after some reading around I found this function on the Cubase midi channel which let's you set the delay in milliseconds for this track, either making the delay worse or shortening it up by using negative values.
I found that -3 milliseconds almost makes my Nord run in sync with Cubase.
But almost is not good enough.
So would anyone know any other options within Cubase, which could set the midi timing right? |

I have no idea.
Now way to tell from Cubase.
All I can do is mess with Virus Control Panel, but there's no buffer size to be adjusted. |

hmmm.. i may have something..
Okay let me tell you what i got.
Nord going into i/p 1 + 2 of the soundcard
The nord's midi-in/out going via usb (Xmidi 1x1) into the pc.
in windows. i have a soundcard mixer interphace .. on where i can control all in's and out's, paanning per I/P, buffersize options 'n stuff of the soundcard.
Sounds from the nord are ofcourse instantly heard over the monitors.. BUT!
when i open my daw.. i have to select the nord's inputs on a channel to hear it. Because now both my DAW and the soundcard are playing the nord's input over the main-out.. it sounds 'double' .. if i want to automate in the DAW i have to turn down one of the two.. (otherwise it's too confusing to work..) So, logicly i thought to turn down the one on the soundcard interface.. (because i want record using the daw) but then when i played back automation i had written... there was a little delay in the actual playback..
Automation is completely synced.. but i had to turn up the fader on the soundcard's mixer interface.. instead of playing it back through the daw... the daw was the problem in my case. Causing latency..
pfff way too long.. hope it's somewhat understandable... and if you use the snow as soundcard (!?) i would not know if you have some kind of mixer interface for the inputs...
but hey. . maybe changing buffersize could prevent my daw's input delay as well...

Yes there is, check in the Devices menu for VST Audiobay, you can see the latency and adjust the buffer size there.
|
|
It's not there, really.
I do see the latency which does change when I fiddle with the system performance settings in Devices--> Virus Control panel.
But nowhere is there any mention of the word 'buffersize'.
But when I for example choose a driver like Asio4all, then I can change the buffersize. |

Very much the same story here.
I had to turn down the input volume within my Virus as well, otherwise I would have 2 signals.
But I think it's got to do with the latency.
Working on it right now, see if that solves it.
Thanks guys!

Also, if you are using versions of cubase later than 3 you can set up external instruments where you can actually set your recording latency for each instrument. As long as the lag between is the same you can fix that in one fell swoop... also works for your hardware fx units too... but if it's already solved, no worries. just a thought for the future.
