I don´t know if this helps...but I'll try it anyway...
In Logic you can create midi monitors in the enviroment, then (in the enviroment) if you plug a cable from the physical input (midi in) to the monitor...
Or you can record the data on a track, and watch it over in events list...           "The Light Children Are Awakening!"

In my spare time (the very little I have) I'm working on a simple synthesizer design.
One single oscillator, LFO, envelop-generators and filters is the contents, and I will be using discrete components only =)

I was asking about the midi-spec's because I'm considering to design the CV/Gate-converter myself aswell (they are so expensive to buy, and designing one would be a learning procedure =)
This part would be microprocessorbased with a D/A-converter to generate the CV.
(For this I will probably use a Motorola MCU).

Thanks for the help! The page was most helpful...

hehehehe...

Well, I have ten years or more with experience of discrete (analogue) electronics, but in the MCU area I'm sort of new..

But there will be a few courses in the fall with this at the university here, so I was thinking of doing this as a project for school...

Bom!
