with my oxygen8 there is a difference!

when i connect via usb, i get a latency of about 90ms.

when i connect via midi and my m-audio delta 2496, it's 6ms.

and now the unbeliebable:

when i connect via midi over my m-audio midisport 4x4 and this is connected via usb(!), it's 2ms!

i think it's all a question of the drivers.           time is for turtles...

bang on target... Not only drivers though, protocols too... But the m-audio is connected with usb too if i'm not mistaken, so in this case it's not because of protocols...

i use my radium 49 with usb , and send midi through to 2 synths (chained one to another) , anyhow , for midi recording i get maximum 6 ms latency which is just fine
for audio recording from the synths there is slight latency with the mikrokorg but not witht he nord (that chained after!). anyhow this latency is for the hole thing and i can simply quantize the first note to fix it all..
