I just got a Behringer BCR2000 and spent all day trying to figure out how to configure it. Now im stuck. I hit the Learn button, move one of the knobs, and its waiting for an input. I then go to a VSTi lke Z3ta+ and move the Filter Cutoff. Its supposed to now send a message back to my BCR2000 controller and link the knob to the filtercutoff but nothing happens. Help please! |

Enable midi learn on the VST you like (zeta),just click the parameter you want to assign (e.g. cutoff),and move the knob on the BCR . That should do it man

I have talked to several people now who claim that the midi-learn function does not work properly on the BCR2000, however noglightatend and age_of_panic seem to have it working.
I have exactly the same problem and i basically gave up to use midi-learn
When i trigger midi-learn from within (for example) Reaktor it does work.
Working with Generic Remote in SX3 works ok aswell. Please post what host you are using and if you find the solution!

i found this thread now: http://www.bcontrol.tk/ Go to BCR2000 and then the thread 'Learn mode' on Cubase (it won't let me link direct).
There's some important info there and a possible solution if you're host is Cubase.

Guys thanks for replying. Let me give you an update on what I have going on. Bear with me, its a bit complex to explain:
I did manage to control my VSTi's (like Albino and Zeta) using the Generic Remote in Cubase SX3. With generic remote, I mapped out all the knobs to their respective CC numbers, then assigned several to some parameters in my VSTis. Now, I have 2 issues with this solution. The first problem if I close the project and re-open it, all this information is LOST. The Task of mapping everything takes a very very long time. I'm ok doing this once, but everytime I open a project? Thats just insane. What I DONT want to do, is to have a template project with every single VSTi I need open either.
Problem 2: The mapping I made in the setup of Generic Remote only worked for the particular instance of the VSTi. So say I program the first knob in my BCR2000 to be the Filter Cutoff of Albino 2. Say I open a Second albino 2, the knob wont work. Am I doing something wrong? I know that when I mapped it, I selected that first instance of Albino. Is there a way to select a Generic albino in that view where any albino would be affected by my automation. Please help guys. Thanks! |

John, you have to save the generic remote map you made as an xml file. Then you load it up next time you make a new project and save it once for the project you work in.

Ok how do u save it? I didnt see that option anywhere in SX3 in the device settings view.
ALso im confused Nolightatend what you are saying regarding multiple instances. The way I set it up was, in the bottom right pane of the Generic Remote settings pane, I select Albino 1 as the device for example, then I get a popup of all the parameters I can select, I choose a parameter like "res" and then hit LEARN tab, and touch my BCR's knob and it works. But how do I figure out what the CC number is for any Albino's "res" for example and assign it that way. I think I am doign it the wrong way because Im doing it PER instrument, not generically. |

let me give you an update.
nolightatend: u were right, midi learn is easy.
i was reading the manual. what was the problem?? a bug in cubase!! it works perfectly on NEW projects. The same simply technique doesnt work with my existing projects. Probably some bug with parameters I already have automation drawn in for!! thanks anywayz! |
