i would suggest u to go on an evolution or roland keyboards and dont buy those cheep keyboards with the knobs...
i use evolution mk-261 (5 oct.) and i am very happy. it cost me 1200 shekels or so...
midi keyboard is exactly like its name. it sends midi commands to your sequencer (notes, velocity, ect.)
the problem is that with a simple soundcard u'll get a high latency so i suggest u to upgrade your soundcard to something more professional. although i heard that there are good drivers for sblive which u can download that will reduce dramaticly your latency.
goodluck!

The best thing you can do, is drop to Tel Aviv one day and visit this 3 shops: Halilit in Yafo, Music Shop in Dizengof and Kley Zemer in Dizengof as well. Go there and touch the keyboards, the touch is important as well.
Check if it has control knobs, they are very usefull with softsynths.
Some of the modern keyboards connect through USB, so it might decrease your latency (though i'm not sure about it).
And there's always the option to buy used one.
Check out www.act.co.il forums, they have plenty of users who have this kind of equipment.
That's all, enjoy.
And offcourse consider a good soundcard as well.

Just try to buy one with knob so you can get a midi keyboard and a midi controller this way you'll have perfect synth emolution cos you can easly route for example a cut of to your midi knob and work with it easly.
Good luck |

no, dont make that mistake and buy this 2 in 1 keyborads. i can tell u they r no good. their knobs are so unpresiced and the quality of it is outragous.
buy a midi keyboard of a well known company (roland, evolution ect.) or buy a good kb synth. the keyboard is a very important tool in your studio, dont forget it... oh, and search for a kb with after-touch, it's great... |
