I'm looking for a 8x8 midi interface. Currently I use Win XP but I might upgrade to Win 7 in the future.

So far I only found two interfaces in the lower price range which would run under Win 7:

- Motu Midi Express 128
- ESI M8U XL

Any experiences with these interfaces? Or do you know another one?

I'll go with the Motu.
The ESI uses windows class compliant drivers and there seems to be a problem when running more than one interface. The midi ports would have identical names and cubase could not distinguish between the interfaces. So when running e.g. 2 ESI interfaces there would be a 50/50 chance that cubase would mix up the midi routing.

I've been using my MOTU MidiExpress XT (8 x 8) since 2000 and it has performed flawlessly (on Apple hardware) with every DAW software I use. Impeccable timing. Highly recommended.
