is there a midi controller (not a hardware midi sequencer like the octopus or rpseq12 that are for computer independent hardware sequencing and cost silly money) that has 16 steps and 12 lines (full octave). basically sumtin like this DIY project:
but commercially available?
i know there is the monome 16x16 that is sexy as hell but also costs a fortune...
i think this would be an awesome tool for pattern/melo programming within your daw with hands on control, what do you guys think?
unfortunately all pad controllers like the launchpad are only 8x8 pads...
anything i´ve missed?

yeah it's surprising that there is nothing out there for this except the monome. been looking too, other option right now seems like a DIY with modules from Livid Instruments but with that total cost even makes the monome look cheap.
ipad + touchosc perhaps?

it seems you could hook up 4 launchpads and use lauflicht
http://www.stepsequencer.net/help.html
to use them as one big 16x16 step seq.
that would set you back 425€ all in when using launchpad minis.
not too bad but not sure how good it would work and it sure does not look as nice as a dedicated one instrument solution.
