Hello.
I'm looking for a midi controller that can control all of the knobs etc. in cubase. that hooks up to firewire/usb. my fingers are tired from the mouse, its very frustrating like that to tweak. Does this make sence? will there be latency? (i hope not!!!).... those who are using a control pad like that, is it worth it? What are your experiences with them?
cheers! |

i think a midi controler is a must in a studio, its very inovative you can record what you play and then correct it in the midi sequencer. you can also automate your vst plugins with the knobs and sliders. latency depends mostly on your sound card if you have a sound card that is intented for music production you shouldnt have any problem with latency.
i have a m-audio radium which does the job well but i personly think that the quality is pretty low.
i advice you to check out the emu controllers, i went to a store a while ago and they seemed better then the m-audio, the quality looked better and the feel of the keys was better.
any way go and do some research im sure there are better controllers around then the ones i stated. |

thanks for the reply dj tuK ;-)
It is a given that I have a keyboard to control the vst synths, this type of midi controller I am getting for sure.
What I am refering to is a midi controller that plugs into usb that controls strictly the knobs etc. I am wondering about the latency since it is passing directly into the usb and not through soundcard. Not sure. |

hey ronyosi!
I've got the BCF2000 (moterized faderes and rotery's)and a padkontrol (drumpads) there both connected trough usb (via powerde usb-bus on the laptop).... no noticeble latency...
only problem is that, sometimes when I move like 7 parameters on the same time, the usb gives little glitches.... only a pain in the assss when your gigging....
For my lives I switch everything to midi.... as stable as can be.. |

i have a BCR2000, and it's a pain in the ass. i have it since august 06 and i still didn't really figure out how to get some fucking parameter feedback on it...like this its useless piece of junk that i will probably throw outta my window soon (window closed).
until this weekend it was also useless because i didnt have enough space to place it aside me or infront the screen, and having it on the side on some stool sucks. now that i have a lot of space i hope to understand that bitch very soon Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more. |

I have mackie control and control XT and m-audio x-session uc-17...
I cant live without it.
I ordered all for very good prices in US www.jrrshop.com.
they sent it to europe without questions and for 70USD within 2 days..
Was still much cheaper than buying in switzerland. They give nice discounts when you ask
