Does anyone know if these exist, like something you could hook up to a vst sampler or something and be able to change the base sound + parameters and stuff like filters while someone else plays it? All I can find are the pads which just have 16 build in sounds or something. Also, is it possible to make these things yourself? |

There are midi controllers with knobs/sliders/buttons which you can assign to parameters of vsts and tweak the shit out of them and there are drum pads like the ones you mentioned which you can assign to samples and play them live using drum sticks or your hands

Can anybody recommend a "pure" midi-pad that only triggers an external soundsource and doesn't have an own computer/ soundsource inside?

Do you know how to build one? That sounds interesting. Sometimes I think of inventing new controllers for more human interaction with my PC bcos we are so different somehow ;-)

ofcourse there are drumpads that are pure midi-controllers, and then u just assign the machine to a midi-channel, and the pads to a certain note, and in ur sampler u assign the right samples to the right notes and the program to the right midi-channel and it'll all work... Like a midi-keyboard (in fact, EXACTLY like a midi-keyboard), but it looks a little different Don't forget to make velocity layers with your sampler, so u have a nice realism to the sound (example: hard snare on velocity 100-127, almost same snare but softer on velocity 80-100,...) |
