You sure can.......
Just go to traktor preferences,
select Hotkey and Midi setup,
then Midi Setup.
Just select or add the control you want to map and then click the learn button and tweak a knob/slider or key to assign.
I used to do it this way before i bought decks and a mixer. Hope this helps.......

i use successfully my novation remote zero with traktor its a big improvement over the mouse djing also when combined with an external mixer flexibility and djistick feeling is great!

Hi there!

crossfader :

add->master->X-Fader (X = cross)

deck volume:

add->deck->audio->deck audio
and in the controller attributes (middle of your window) you can select focus, deck a, deck b, deck c, deck d.

It's all there in that menu man! If you think it's a little confusing, try traktor 2, it's easier to use.

If you want to add vst's, a sampler or some crazy ass fx i recommend you use Deckadance over traktor, although the beat sync is not as good.           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

Well, my preferred one is traktor 2. I used it for so long I just got used to it. And I love the filter it uses, 4 knobs for full control over our sound. And it has one of the most stable beat sync I played with, but it won't recognize if it's wrong and auto-correct. After a while, you don't have that muck control over anything.

Traktor 3 is a big jump from the 2 version. But the thing is, they didn't remove any functions (it's totally midi friendly). They only perfected and added them. But they did it so radically that you don't recognize a thing. This version has a couple of different eq's and fx's to choose from now. The tracks are fully loaded into buffer for faster results (it's shit looking at your playing track and seeing its only loaded a half a second ahead of what you are hearing, and you wish that it just doesn't stop....). But I think this version is just too complicated to play around with, in version 2 if on your midi controller you have 16knobs you don't need more. In traktor 3 you are going to need a lot more than that.

Image-line (creator of FruityLoops) created DeckaDance, a dj program directed to electronic music. It does just about what Traktor does, and more. They made it with a stand alone and a vst, so your can open it in Live or so. It's also a vst host w/midi so you can load your plug-ins, play them on the keyboard controller and play or even load a midi file and loop it. (it doesn't support fx plug-ins, but if using the program threw live you bypass the problem). It doesn't alow you to record your own midi or change the midi thats being played (which is lame cause you cant change the root note of the midi file... ) but at least it accepts vst.. It has a sampler where you cam load your own sounds or record a decks sound (great for techno). It has loop and leap. (it can loop a section but the cursor will continue to move forward as normal, so you can get the downbeat right.) It's weak in beat sync but it has peakscope which helps a lot in sync. But I still dont trust that bpm counter. Your ears are better. It's totally midi controlable, has some cool fx that are controles on a X-Y pad (if you have one great if not you can assign 2 knobs to do the job) And a wicked relloper (it takes a loop, breaks it up in to quarter beats and you play these as wanted in a really break dance way. Extremely cool for "psy breaks".

I think I covered it all. I don't say one is better than the other, just use what ever is the most confortable for you. Only there you can get better results..

Since Traktor doesn't support vst and there's no vst version of it, there's no way to sync they programs and play em together.           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz
