Hey ppl..! Ive got a problem connecting my synth (Korg- Electribe) with midi connections... So far ive used audio only (pl-connections) and the quallity is really shitty. I have a really simple soundcard (Vibra 128) that i wanna change (any recommenations??)... Anyway- How do I connect the synth with the midi cabels??? What configuration do I need to change on the pc? Does any1 know how to work Reason with midi controll? |

Ok.. I assume you don't have a dedicated MIDI interface, right? Well in that case go to Halilit or Kley Zemer or Marom or something and ask for a joystick->midi cable. You plug it into the joystick port in your soundcard. Then you can connect your Korg to the comp, and control it using a sequencer, or control programs with it. Note: This will give you only 1 MIDI In and 1 MIDI Out. If you need more then you'll need to get a MIDI interface.

Michael..: Ive got the midi cable and ive connected it correctly but nothing happens... When I connect a joystick to the same port, windows recognises it after a few seconds but with the synth..nada! Do I need to change something in the control panel or is this supposed to happen by it self..? In cubase I entered the MME setup and the midi inout were allready active... so im really stuck, cause nothing (Reason, cubase) seems to recognise the synth... please help... |

hmm... In the definitios, you choose "MIDI Out" or "MIDI Synth"? Synth is the internal synth on the sound card.
About a good sound card, there is the Delta 66, which I'm planning to get but maybe I'll get something else because of the price - 1821 NIS last time I checked but you can afford it I see. |
