Hello , i want to work with a friend so we want to hook up our daws to get perfect sync and still be able to use our setups as individual instruments , kinda like with hardware. From what ive seen FX Teleport or VSTack wont get the work done, cause thats more to remote control the second CPU, and we want 2 separate workstations. So i think the best way for me i think would be to send midi and audio through Lan using MidioverLAn and Wormhole for audio? anyone tried this before? or any other advice plzz?

But with this you get just one stereochannel!
If you both work with cubase and you got two soundcards with ADAT I/O ,you got 8 channels,7 for audio and one for sync and midi.Just use vst sytem link!!

well one Cpu has Motu 828 MKII, but the second only has 4 analog outputs Echo Indigo .. yes the problem is i dont have optical digital in outs on the second souncard!

if i just use the analog io into the motu, can some device help me get a better signal> some fx box???

or should i be better of using wormhole or audiotunnel?

I use Wormhole a lot, it's great for passing audio from one place to another. Make sure your buffer sizes are less than 2048 samples though or it won't work. It won't help you sync the DAWs transports though. Have you tried setting them up so that one sends MTC and the other receives it? You'll need a MIDI cable from the master DAW to the slave.

hello.. thanx for ur input.. i ve tried sync the traditional way with time code and midi interface io on both cpu, but i didnt get perfect sync, or at least usable... thats why i will be trying with midioverlan CP.. I hope i can get better results. what im trying to do is get a setup in which two or more laptops can easily hook up and jam! the idea of doing it with a single ethernet connection is something id love to do!
using midioverlan for midi and wormhole for audio, i know they work separate,, but toguether???? i gotta try. hehe

Time syncing several computers without midi would be great !

Man, I like your vision!

With MIDI I never had a good sync.. maybe VST system link could help for cubase users. but its for two computer only I believe..

I think system link can sync many computers; AFAIK (without looking at the manual or anything) you need to make a circular link with S/PDIF from eg. the master PC out to slave1 in, slave1 out to slave2 in, slave2 out to master in.

Do your computers have gigabit network cards? If you have more than a couple of streams of audio going from PC to PC it might be worth it if they don't already.

System Link can be used for as many computers as you can manage to hook up. I've only used it between two computers so far, but more in possible. There is techincally no master or slave in the system either although generally everyone uses one particular as the master computer....           New Album: Jikkenteki - Flights Of Infinity

I have got hold of both wormhole 2 and fxteleport and i like them and use them alot, the only problem is the latency issues on the Wormhole.....
