I am very into the new, less-IDM/ambient and more "trancy" sound with beats for the chillout floor... it's usually 85 - 120 bpm
I first started noticing the trend with some tracks on "East of the River Ganges" and Mana Medicine a few years back...
there are some fantastic recent releases with dancable bpm's and meditate-dance..either/or possibilites:
Mountian High
13th moon
Kaya Project
H.U.V.A Network (towards the middle of CD)
Abakus
what about some more titles for this kind of
music? any older gems?... I want relaxing and also highly groovable! |

you definitely want to check out older Orb (early-mid 90's)... the albums Orbus Terrarum and Live 93 are my personal picks, but there are others.
Solar Fields - coupla a ambient trancey numbers
Celtic Cross (really really good, almost as good as Ganges)
like weird idm with abstract beats? try brothomstates |

i must say i really like a lotta tracks in this particular beat range. It's not downtempo, nor dance, but somewhere in between. so many possibilities....
heres another:
Front Line Assembly - Synthetic Forms
(this is way more atmospheric and trippy than most other aggressive FLA songs) |
