Hi , I have a little thing i cant figure out, Im using Cubase sx 2 , with a condenser mic , that goes thru my mixer and again to the sound card ..
And my problem is , when i want to record some song or talk , and i want to do it directly in cubase , I cant record without getting the rest of the arrangement on the wave ..
This is very logical , cuz when i record i "want" to hear the rest of the arrangment so i can time the words or song according to the rest .
My question is , how do i hear the arrangment , in Headphones , without it recording it ,Only wanting the vocal ?
I can figure its a matter of routing , but can this be done in cubase ? Cuz i really dont want to mess with my mixer/soundcard/hardware setup

It depends on your mixer settings/outputs.
4 example i'm using soundcraft mixer which i can choose which channels i want to send to the computer inputs- if i will send only the mic so i will hear everything but will record only the mic- if i want to record the mic and all the rest i will send the two channels to record(to the computer input)
now, what mixer do you have and does it allows you to do this? if not you need such a mixer- or if your sound card have more then one input you can connect your mic directly to one of your soundcard inputs then record it without recording all the mix,
well, i hope i made some point- please let me know if you need some more info.
peace,
