Methods of Production...How to be efficient?

Hello all...
I´m looking to be more efficient in my productions...not about the quality, or the phrases...or mixing, Eqing..but I think the Method of Creation is really very important...
When I start a track I made the Kick+Bass first....and go making the arrangement arround this...sometimes on a part of track i make variations of bassline...and making leads arround that...but I feel that is not so good...Im trying to separate the Creation of Tunes of Creation of Arrangement....

So Im trying to found a more efficient method...more fast...Im start trying use less MidiChannels...and more Audio channels...Bouncing the stuff...but when the tracks is coming up u wanna make some adjusts in the tone...

The point is...for last years, in my productions I´m create the tunes together with the track growing...but this get a bit confused when you have 20...25 channels...and a lot of automation...And now I´m thinking is more easy to create the tones first (in this include perc lines, leads, pads, fx, all stuff)and just after i have some good loops with that I go to arrangement...

so, what is yours method of creation? and what is your experience with other methods?? How to be more efficient organizing your process ?

Thanks
Natan

maybe you should bounce everything like you tried, but dont delete the midi chanals, just put them in a folder, so that they dont confuse you... and if you want any changes, you can simply change it and bounce it to audio again. (fast enough pc is basic)

i personally wait with bouncing until i got most of the structure in finished.

Yes bro, u should listen to your intuition, your on the right track..
On the first day I create loops,
on the second day I arrange stuff,
on the third day I do final mix..
And it is good.
Mastering is best done 2 weeks after the track is finished..
Of course u cant work that fast if ur not well organized..           http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions

first i go with the bass and kick, then i go adding tunes to it according to my intuition, shaping it. but you definetly shoudnt listen to me cuz i dont know nothing about music production at all.           ``We shall not cease from exploration - And the end of all our exploring - Will be to arrive where we started - And know the place for the first time.``

+1

If you're talking about efficient organisation, one thing springs to mind:

Name.

Everything.

Tracks, parts, audio files, FX presets, mixer channels, FX sends, FX returns, segments, regions... give them all names that will tell you what each one is at a glance.

In addition, if you work out a system where each instrument or type of sound always gets the same colour in your arrangement, you'll be able to immediately see what's what in your arrangement without even looking at the names of things.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

yeah, shortcuts (hot-keys) is definitely one of the biggest time savers.

a few other things:

1) don't know if you are using 2 monitors (screens), but if you are not and not too broke, you should.

2) folder tracks. organize your percussion, leads, fx. bouncing is great, but you don't necessarily have to delete the midi file. keep them all in a folder right in the project, so they don't get in the way. either freeze the vsti and mute it or disconnect, but keep the midi channel around.

3) create a few templates for the common routings you tend to do over and over again. when you are inspired, you don't have to waste time setting shit up and thus can work faster.

That's a good one too from OOOD.

I use Cubase and a Virus so my named channels usually look like:

Kick
Bass 1
Bass 2
...
Snare 1
Snare 2
...
Hihat 1
Hihat 2
...
TI (1-->)
Glitch (1 -->)
Pad (1 -->)
Ramp (1-->)
FX (1-->)
Vox (1 -->)
...
TI MIDI (1-->)

All color coded. Works great!

Hey guys...good tips...thanks for helping..

Naming, Coloring, hotKeys!

Actually All my stuff are placed on timeline...I will try to save MidiClips and AudioRacks (I use ableton) on a Project Folder to keep possibility to tweak after if I need...and delete from timeline...to keep organized and save CPU load...

cheers
