which ones? it would help if you posted a link to a track on youtube with the type of sounds you mean.
when i hear the word metallic applied to sounds, i usually think of struck bells/gongs/percussion etc., which can be synthesised with things like frequency modulation and ring modulation, but i guess it could also apply to "glassy" digital pads made with wavetables etc.

Hi Babaluma. Thanks for replying back mate. The first one will be the metallic type of pads at the beginning and may be some of the squelchy sounds in the track.
Cheers buddy,

no worries!
ok, those metallic, rip your head off sounds near the beginning sound like audio rate FM to me.
ingredients:
2 x VCOs with FM inputs (helps if you can choose whether AC or DC coupled, and Exp/Lin response, but not 100% necessary)
1 x EG
1 x VCA
patch:
sine out of VCO 1 into VCA audio in
audio out of VCA into VCO 2 FM in
CV out of EG into VCA CV in
sine out of VCO 2 is what you need to be listening to
explanation:
here, the VCA is controlling what's called the FM index, or amount of FM, and the EG is controlling that index over time. start with both VCOs in the audio range, and zero attack and longish decay on the EG. just play with frequencies of the VCOs until you get something pretty metallic.
VCO 1 is the modulator wave and VCO2 the carrier wave. FM produces many harmonic and inharmonic side-band frequencies, which can lead to very metallic like sounds.
a variation would be to mult the EG out and feed it to either/both VCOs pitch/frequency input. this is the key to all those analogue modular style wibbly noises.

Thanks for your time Babaluma. I have massive synth and i think i can use it in FM mode aswell. Any idea how to do it using massive please? It don't seems to have the VCO's. VCA's, EG'S and CV. I also have Sylenth. Do you think i can do it using Sylenth mate?
Thanks mate. Take care and have a good day buddy.

Sylenth cannot FM synthesis, Massive can but is not that good to my taste.
Get a more FM oriented synth like Albino, Discovery or Free Synth1
Learn FM synthesis...

(It might not be what you asked for but,) A good way to make anything sound as if in a metallic container is through a very (extremely) short delay: put a delay after any sound with he time between 1ms and 30 ms.. A reverb unit should be able to do the same, just apply the same concept.

Absolutely beautiful!! Would you care to open up a topic here explaining what you used on this (what each component does), and essentially what it does in detail?

i could do, but it would take me years to explain. a modular synth is a direct representation of the mind that designed it, and my mind is kind of crazy.
i'd be happy to answer any specific questions on any specific modules though. maybe PM me, or if people are really intersted will open a new topic. don't want this one to veer OT.
here is the start of some posts i made on the womb forum from a few years back, where i explain some of it:

thnanks for all the interest, really sorry to OP/mods for veering OT.
i sold it because over the last four years or so, i've been moving away from production/music making and more into professional mastering.
i was pretty happy building the beast, twiddling knobs all day, and recording stuff, but always felt my real talent/joy lay in sound design and mastering, as opposed to writing/arrangement/mixing etc. i.e. the beginning and end stages of the music making process.
it WAS great, but to be brutally honest i actually get far more satisfaction from mastering, AND i get paid for it too!
the sale of the modular allowed me to equip my studio with world class mastering gear that will eventually pay for itself. the modular was more of an expensive hobby.
after moving from japan to italy, it didn't even get turned on for about six months, so i realised it had to go to someone who would use it more. i sold it all off over the last year, easy to do as all the modules are separate.
i don't really miss it, but if i ever do i'll get a couple of serge panels or a wiard 300 series in the future.
