Greetings Prophets, inheritors of Gods, children of universe!
Many of us are wandering what happened with psychedelic and goa-trance, what happened with their sound? With the beginning of new millennium we were witnesses of total transformation. But before I talk about it, I would like to move back to the past. Let us remind those old melodies, deep dropkicks. There was an incredible energy in them, unique, obtained straight from cosmos. Every of those songs were stories, which carried sense. People who once heard it, completely given themselves to it, it became a religion for them, their way of life. Everyone knows it wasnt just music. So why it was changed?
As I said year 2000 brought new wave. Lets look on todays shape of psychedelic - is it similar? What happened to it? Today it sounds like... emptiness. Monotonous instruments, cheese melodies, creation of a mutant called psytrance. Religion, which was young, but extremely powerful, was beaten by simplicity and minimalism without a spark of cosmic energy in it. Many people explain it was caused by running out of ideas, by coming of new fashion (Do not be fools you are the one who create it!). Many bands have broke down because of it, many stopped to compose. But look at young artists who want to go back to the roots! Their songs are showing up on great compilations, they collect positive commentary! They make true Goa & Psychedelic!
This message came into existence for a purpose of great mission Its time to restore the old order! Believe me, many would come back to continue what they began. There is still hope! I know that money are important, but I beg you in the name of all believers unite and restore what is forgotten. IT WERE YOU WHO CREATED THE PAST, SO IT CAN BE YOU WHO CAN CREATE THE FUTURE! And you know it very good what you need is just willingness.
Why it went so far? In my opinion, each of you choosed different paths and abandoned one, shared aim. You abandoned truth. Most of you care only about being on top, to imitate others. Those who are actually listening to you have white gloves, pink whistles and no head on their neck. They do not understand this higher culture. My heart hurts a lot when I am writing it.
Many of you will ask what the f... is he talking about? Heres the answer I am talking about waking yourselves from sleep. Those who dont understand are not worthy to create this music, or even to read that message. Some of you will ask who am I to judge you? So I am a normal man, who found his destiny. To this moment my life had no sense, but now I know I must sacrifice myself for this goal.
The world must be awaken! Please take it seriously and meditate on it!
ps. im not a psycho ;P

Que 10+ pages of people defending full-on/proggy/dark/>>insert own sub genre<< as the real and only psychedelic music.
I do agree with the essence of this post, but one must ask him/her self, whether the most evident change actually occurred on the music and not within the individual.

Fully understand you my friend, we are also in the same boat but now it's too big and it's even harder than before but i beleive in the music and one day it will happen again! We will enjoy those moments that existed before and even better ones probably...Acceptance and patience but we will get there

Im sorry to say but its not the music...though nowadays the amount of crap ( and of non-psy trance) that goes under the psy-trance flag is huge!!!!
There are amazing artists composing/producing as we speak - i dont think names are necessary!!!!
The thing IMHO is that this scene in the beginning "promised" change - ex: awareness, consciousness and a general hope window for the future - and it did not happen!!!!! Not because of the music but because of the people and the alienated vortex we live in...same thing in the 60's, i was told...
The ritual of the psy-gatherings is nowadays lost in the middle of what we are as a species - lost, looking for identity and scared....
I believe that music can open doors and the psy-scene can be a place of awareness but the change has to happen everyday on everyone's effort. I think that the parties, the music, the all could regain then the magic we claim as lost.

then u who wonder stay in that kind of state and be in "stasis"...nothing happend except what must happen and did happen. a change, as with everything in the universe, a constatn flow of changes, thats why its called NOW...
"But before I talk about it, I would like to move back to the past."  that is the problem, people are so occupied with past events/expiriences that they tend to stay "there" and fail to notice whats now. im also btw a goa lover, and i cant complain about anything...the feeling, energy and that bit of something higher in music still exists without a doubt. if the sound stayed the same as it was pre 2000 as u said, althou should be pre 1998 (around 2000 things already started to get in motion) it wouldnt be that much appealing as it was back then. eventually this would happen...
@ellon - i mostly agree with ur post, expect "The ritual of the psy-gatherings is nowadays lost in the middle of what we are as a species - lost, looking for identity and scared...." i think the thing is not so much about identity, then it is about money and some kind of "fame" which doesnt make sense...example israel, brazil and japan are a breeding ground for that, japan was one a great place for gathering, now cant find the word for it (take a look at the 1st few gatherings and the last few)...same goes with israel, to many artist that do not have a thing to do with the scene, "tag" along as they are part of it, so when u add al that up u have a pile of crap. |

I think you pretty much agree with me:) the issue is that money became one of the main identities of human social reality. We put a price on everything and mesure the same everything according its monetary value...i mean there is no magic in such society!!!!!

People have their own specific tastes and the truth is that there IS something for everybody, irrespective of how much. By this i am referring to the sub-genre wars and so on.
Every year has had its share of glory in respect to quality music releasing even though i have to admit the frequency has been falling markedly. Time is flying faster than ever now and soon the first few years post millenium will also be retro and in five years we will all continue to whine and say hey why isn't anyone making such and such as they did in 2006. I do it too so im not pointing fingers.
Fortunately/unfortunately evolution moves only forward, and not backward. But just in case evolution is a circular process, we will one day experience the magic we did many years back yet again. And until that day good luck on your quest to find music that touches your soul.

u talk like the magic is not in the current state  like it really is stuck in time, somewhere in the past...u said its a circular (spiral) process and when it comes to its hmmm overlaping point (refering to the topic) say "gold days" (again) u wont get any better music then now, cause music didnt change it only evolved, and yes there are certanly defects in the process but still the majority held the essence of it...the only thing to look forward to is the reuniting of everything that has connection with this music and culture, and maybe the biggest problem money aka greed (be that material or spiritual) will be disintegrated  and then purity would be once more |

Damn.. One of those dropkicks once landed on me, it came straight from Venus, and since, I got this weird feeling of a drop, dropping down in a very droppy way from my forehead.. And then.. I remember.. It was summer of 1995, the air was trembling with the sounds of the ultimate dropkicks coming at us, and we were ready, standing as one, upon the hill of Disco Valley, and we waited for them to arrive.
Needless to say they arrived and seriously f#$ked us up. It took 3 years to absorb the impact, and another 3 years to come back to reality. The dropkicks are long gone, the went on a venture to conquer Another World, in that madly never ending Dancing Galaxy. I just hope they will meet a Liquid Troll on a way that will open their Chakra. They f#$ked us too hard I tellz ya. We want revenge!
