"As we all know, Christmas is that magical time of the year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feed on the flesh of the living. So we all sing Christmas carols to lull him back to sleep."
~Peter Griffin

I hope you all enjoyed gorging yourselves on amanita muscaria mushrooms in recognizance of the ancient shaman of northern europe & scandanavia who birthed the legend of santa claus!

This is one of my favorites out of that group.

I worked at a tree lot for some pocket cash last year (and cheaper than a gym!) and had some really interesting conversations about the tradition. I could have written a sociology paper on it. Most surprising is that there are people who honestly think that the tradition started on the day Jesus was born.

Pine trees. In Bethlehem.

For contrast, I had people tell me that they still did it because it was the one thing they'd do as a family all year - with all of them happy and participating.

It was interesting all in all, being totally objective to the experience, growing up Jewish. Plus I got to use a chainsaw.

There are many people who wouldn't sit back and wonder why it is we carry out many of these traditions. Why chop down a tree and drag it into your home? decorate it with balls? lol.

Speaking of balls, here's a gift for everyone (most have probably seen it already) :
