The thing is if you follow only theory there is no music... You need to make music and not to follow theory.
You owww that should be like this or like because you learned some scales and mods or more.
But FIRST thing they teach you is there is no rules man.Going strictly by scales and try to fit 5 or 6 scales and different chords in your mind is far more frustrating then to do it by just feeling and hearing the "right note". There is no wrong note.
So the main thing is the music is beautyfull or not. Theory should be thrown aside when writing music. First thing is the ear and heart then the mind.

You have to learn theory only to forget it later.
Once you get the hang out of it you make your own set of "rules" or way to work with this so called music. |

I feel like this is good advice if you already have a base of musical knowledge. If you are just starting out and you have little to no knowledge...not so much.
I'll use myself as an example. In december of 09 I didn't know diddly squat about music, synthesis, DJing, nothing...besides the fact that I really really loved psychedelic electronic music.
At that level, you can NOT create 'beautiful music' - there are plenty of wrong notes at that stage, because you're just throwing shit in randomly. Amateur experimentation and throwing caution to the wind is a different kettle of fish than someone who knows what they're doing experimenting.
You need theory if you want to write decent music...theory will help you advance quicker then if you have no theory.
Now, do you need to learn how to read sheet music and be able to play Chopin on the keyboard before making tunes? No...but having a good base of musical knowledge and vocabulary will make you a better producer.
If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

And relax dude, give it a lot of effort but enjoy the process please... you will notice (especially if you have older tracks) that your skills have improved a lot, and if you're ear is better than it was before, you will see what "mistakes" you were making in the past

Well knowing it is a plus. But especialy for melody i'd stay away from the theory and focus on the music.
I had use to write some melodies when i was a kid and knew nothing about intervals and now i know how to call everything and translate it to words but it doesn't help me that much.
When i write something down nowadays i don't come back to look and analyze what chords and what scale i used.
I know it is better to trust the ear on that. I maybe use it a little bit but i try to stay away as much as i can. If you can record what you play that is even better.

Thanks alot everybody !
I've talked to the local music school, and they suggested me, that i could take some theory lessons and some keyboard lessons. So thats okay for a start. I think learning the basics is very important in my case.
And thanks again
