The name says it all. Some may already know that the start of this song was inspired by some advice I gave about another song. eventually I turned into these cheezy little romp.
I would like some advice on the overall mix and balance, particularly the beginning. The first 30 second or so sound very flat and muddy. I know what I want to do with the start but I just can't get it to sound right. I might just abandon the beginning altogether sand redo it.
I feel the rest of the track doesn't have any major problems but let me know how it sounds on better sound systems.

Oh, and I know the lead that comes in around 1:40 needs to be louder and brighter. I was going to fix that but forgot.

Prince of Persia vs. Super Mario Brothers - Tribute to Pacman
About the first 30 seconds: did you try it dry - without that crazy spinning and delays? I think this is what smears the sound. And it also does not fit with the rest of the track. I am talking only about the effects, not the lines.

Yeah, I've tried a few things. It definitely sounds out of place. I think the bass would be good dry but I need to brighten up the psy squelch, when it comes it sounds very timid and boring.

Maybe it's an illusion or maybe it's real: those spinning sounds go up and down in loudness. I can hear the kick to drown in them and resurface on every turn of that spin. I think the lead would sound better if it did not have to compete with that spinning ball of sound for a listener's attention. Maybe it's just fine otherwise and does not need tweaking, if you try it against a stable background.

No, the reason i did that to the bass was an attempt to help the other sound at the start. That effect on the bass was put in shortly before I posted the song here. For most of the production it was just dry like the in the rest of the song.
I certainly doesn't help but it isn't the problem with that other sound either. The other sound is lacking on its own, regardless of the bass.

Alright, I think I have mostly polished up the big issues with the intro and am working on a few other details. Mainly, one of the lead synths is being really glithy with its automation so I think I am going to have to replace it with a different VST.
On a side note, how does the overall mix and eq'ing sound so far (except in the intro of course)?
