Allo, i wasnt sure where to post this but anyway...I have a question about mechanical royalties. It is my understanding that to recieve mechanical royalties for a track you have to actually register that track. It is not enough to just be registered as an artist. Does anyone know more about this? Cheers!

What do u mean by "mechanical royalties"???
Here in Brazil u need a register/contract to press cd´s. I think that´s enough. Now u need to ask the money to the label...

That's right. In the UK you have to register each track with the MCPS/PRS before you can recieve mechanicals on them. They have reciprocal agreements with collection agencies worldwide and so can collect mechanical royalties on your behalf for foreign pressings too.
The last time I registered any of my tracks with MCPS was in about 1997... God knows how much I've got waiting for me when I finally get round to it.

dear timsentient i am the one who drink a beer with u after your gig in Greece
Well that depends on each country laws.
My first release was an album as a group.
The release company was italian and we where Greeks.
We had to be signed at first as physically persons with the greek royalties company.
Then we sent all the info of the album.
Tracks names, lengths, percentance(%)of collaboration for each track(who involved in lyrics, music) and the release company info.
We did it just after the release,so we had the material to send to(cd i mean).
We sent it even if we didnt had to as we were told ... |
