MD is 44KHz in normal play mode & 22KHz in Long Play mode.

MDs sample rate doesn't f*ck up the MD sound as bad as MD compression:
it is nice compression, but u have no control over it.
DAT records PCM - in the plain wav.

mds generally go on 44.1 khz there are some models that you can choose also 33 khz.
Dat have normally (sony D-8) 33,44.1 and 48 khz possibilities |

Yo , Massive People !
If we talk about MD ,
even if the specific MD can record at "24/96"
it's all bulshit , don't look at the numbers
numbers don't tell u about quality ,
because MD's compression fuckz-up the whole shit.
In most cases you can't transfer digitalaudio between yo MD and pro equipement like most samplers , some dats etc . . .
You ask "Why ?"
Because of the compression , that's why .
That's why there is no MD's for computer backup purposes and stuff were you need to transfer pure digital data without corruption.
If we talk digital , compression = corruption .
I don't understand people with minidisks
minidisk
Dat rulez !
Dat sound FAT !
EZ.
Peace. |

@C3PO
you're right (but maybe heavy spoken)
If I am right a MD makes a Data-reduction (no real compression)
They reduct the data that can not be heard by humans.. But this idea is kind of bullsh**
Reduction can never give back all that went into the machine. Period.
But for car it's OK. |
