Hey all,

I would like to buy an audio interface, and the Mbox meets the number of inputs/outputs that I need.

Is this a good idea for a professional sound card? It is USB1, and supposedly slow, but will this affect latency? As for as I know latency for the Mbox is very good?

What other audio interfaces in this price range can give me the same inputs/outputs with close to no latency?

thanks,
ron

Are you intending on using ProTools? If not, don't get a Digidesign soundcard. The have very crappy ASIO drivers.

stuff like this could be in the "The soundcard thread"

its info like this that belongs there!

should i quote your posts or can some moderator fix this...

not that i think the thread should be removed... only that i think this sort of info would fit there...

NO,because the Mbox is just an appendage for the Pro tools LE software that comes with the Mbox_no one buys the Mbox to get the Mbox, but the Pro tools LE -better look for a decent audio interface in the 500 € range

Mbox and Pro Tools is not a very good solution for electronic music composing. It's good for recording and editing but hardly if you intend to use it with SX.
Go for RME or something if you have the budget.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

I bought the mbox1 back in the day to learn a bit about pro tools...
And i´ve been using it with fruity loops and sx2 with 5ms lateny with no problems whatsoever..
But still..if you don´t intend to use pro tools then there´s actually no use in getting it just for sx or similar...
imo
