Well lately we have been infected by many remixes. Some of them are fucken amazing, and some of them are just awful.
For example: Voodoo People (by Junya) is excellent.
But for instance The Nirvana remix to Smells like Teen Spirit is simply awful. It seems like artists are moving from movie samples to old successfull songs samples, just to get people's attention cause they know it would be a success. I mean besides a bit of the melody from this song, you don't see any connection between the track to the original song. And the track itself is really bad (imo).
Another example is the Metallica remix.
Come on artists, a bit of originality.           Majority is never right!

ive posted alredy about remix“s of rock track and bla bla bla and i dont like them junya rmx is not bad (comparing to paranormal atack is 1000% better lol) but i danced the voodoo people a lot of years before (but the original one and was the best no doubts..)

raver girl i agree whit u 100% the rmx of beat hackers of nirvana wat a bad rmx and i dont thik nobody should remix rock tracks specialy nirvana ones...

but thats just my opinion i just think that artists should work more and get ideias and samplers for their music cause ive really tired of that remixed and whit the time more and more is coming bah

To take a great hit from the 80's or another period of time and add kik and bassline to it, is as good as downloading mp3's and shows the face of the trance industry today. Instead of creating original tunes, developing original and special sounds, ppl take the easy way around and well.. pfffffffffffffffffffff.. I think it is a disgrase. At least if the original creators of those songs would approve the 'remix' it would help ( and I know some try to do it and there is a chance they will succeed.. ) In all other cases, this is simply a theft, and also ( imo ) might be prosecuted in the court of law.

If anyone likes a song that much to make a trance version of it.. Pls listen to Minilogue - Billy Jean and see what they did. And this is a PROPER way to do it and to call it bootleg / remix. All the other cases of hit songs with trancy basslines are so pathetic           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

violet vision's remix of "and one - get your closer" is by the way FANTASTIC           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

umm i was a little hars on 1200 mics money for nothing remix..

it's pretty neat actually.. especially the part before the kick+bassline thing enters.. the 1st minute of the track or so..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

Depends on the Remix, I guess.
Some remixes can be quite neat, while some might not.
I dont think that's un-original - in other scenes it happens even more (I think madonna get at least 5 versions/mixes for every song she makes, from William Orbit to Sacha), yet no one raises a cry.

I believe that as long as the remix respects the original and yet has something original to say on its own, then a remix is true. I heard many psy-trance remixes to psy-trance tracks that were a complete waste of time - the same track with some minor changes.
I mean, what is the difference between remixing a rock/pop song and remixing a trance track? is that unoriginal as well? think about that next time you consider taking someone's files and making your own versions...           auspexx@compact-records.com

then of course you get the melovsky's purple haze rehash (no pun intended) and shift's killing road (a cover) which imo are gr8. i'd say it's quite tricky taking a rock tune and making it psychedelic (especially when it's got cheesyish lyrics like money for nothing)

karnaf, i know what you're saying, it seems like the new trend is song remixing, but...
why should sampling from a song be any differant than sampling from a movie?

COME ON!!
sampling from a movie is just a 4-10 seconds of someone saying something...
sampling from a song is a crime! it's taking the actual MUSIC from another artist!           u can find "Anything U Want" using the search...

karnaf I couldn't agree more. This trend of makeing remixes of old songs is so annoying, I a little voliket Billie Jean rmx and voodoo people, but money for nothing sounds so stupid. I was on a DJ set of GMS in skopje and when I heard the song I stopped dancing. But that was not it. They played it again half an hour later and then I left the party. I think that the point of trance remixing is to do it on another trance or eventualy a techno track and not on a pop or a rock track

hi there...
Sorry to be a pain here but 70% of my rmx was original material...I used only the GUITAR, THE FLUTES, BREAKBEAT, MAIN LINE and The guy saying voodoo ppl...I know you all said you liked it but I just wanted to point out that I did not just put a standard kik n bass under and original classic...I wrote a whole new track...+ After I wrote it , THEN all of these remix's started to pop up...he he he..I always like to say my part..Maybe I should learn to keep my mouth shut he he....Well (maybe not)

I do also think its better to do original tracks, voodoo ppl started as a comercial rmx but slowly started to get rocking..So I just made it eskimo...I I think it is good some times to have a catchy idea from somthing famous but I do prefer originals...

Last of all...Some Japanese gut gave me a cd of his music and he has done a trance remix of INSPECTOR GADGET...Fucking so funny man....If you hear it you will pee your pants laughing man...Its kiking
