i m not a live user and i m just looking to a more experimental aproach of making music , maybe renoise would fit me better right now ,i m thinking to rewire it to c5 maybe (c5 for arragment and mixing, renoise to sequence some loops),the 2.5 update bring a matrix to modulate everything ,scripting ,control anything with anything...

Hi!
I used AudioMulch 1 a lot of time! It was a *great* piece of software in my opionio! I have made a lot of live performances and a couple of tracks with it (crazy noise, hard tekno). I don't really know how AM2 is similiar to AM1 but AM1 was very limited as a sequencer: for exaple, you can load a VSTi but you don't have a piano-roll, so you can't make patterns and so on (you must use a midi keyboard or another soft, like pure data, etc).. Audio Mulch is primarly intended for live performance, it is great fun to use it, but I don't think it's much usefull for composing a track in the traditional way!
Also, the "instruments" ("contraptions" in AM terminology) are very simple.. You have to combine them in complex networks in order to produce sound..
It can produce crazy crazy sound, that you can record and use in another sequencer..
I really really loved and love Audiomulch 1.. I don't know about version 2..
Somebody will try it?

Sorry for bad english, bye!!

it seems the same in v2 , there is no midi sequenceur if i m right, you have to use step sequenceur plugins for that or keyboard,(i use some reaktor step sequenceurs) i find it great to make some sound and use them in a other sequenceur..hi tek /glitchy drums ,athmosphere ,experimental sounds ...last time i loaded a trance kick it ended up soundng like a african persussion that don t exist yet

Back on topic...

Here's my first attempt at a Max plugin.

"AM Mincemeat v.1.0" Audio plugin

Effect: Glitch

Description: A heavy duty weighted interval-based audio glitch plugin with a sound similar to LiveCut, but with a lot more user customizable options and control.

Optimized for live use with the APC40

I'm interested in your feedback.

The audio gets loaded into a buffer. The playback of which (the "glitch") is quantized by two clocks which send messages according to Live's transport. The left half of the plugin is an interval meter in beats which tell the metronome when to check for quantization change. The first 8 knobs and menu boxes allow you to set the probability factor for a potential change in quantization and the quantization itself.

The second metronome clock always changes (accoridng to the second interval meter you set).

Both these clocks feed into other parameters which get averaged out and modified using simple mathematical equations.

That's the best I can explain it, lol.

For anyone using Ableton Live/Max For Live, I'm building a Max plugin custom designed for Virus users (optimized for the Snow) that will allow you to control all MIDI channels on the Virus, as well as generate notes, scales, loops and riffs from one audio channel - the one that hosts the plugin.

It will be possible to route both the MIDI and the audio generated into a separate armed MIDI or audio track for the purposes of capturing and recycling loops.

This plugin will be optimized for live use using the TI Snow (but will be perfectly compatible with any Virus TI and probably almost all other VSTi's also) and the APC40 (only for the purposes of streamlined control and routing).

Anyone have any feature requests?

This will free up a number of extra MIDI channels in Ableton, streamline parameter control in live settings.

sound good man,,it s gonna be a great plug for sure !
i was wondering something,do you think it s possible with m4l to make a plug to gate a audio track from a midi track ,the sound on the audio track would play only when there is a midi note + the audio track would be pitched according to the note used in the midi track( for example using c3 as root key ,then it would pitch up or down dpening the notes used)

If I'm visualizing what you're saying correctly, you don't need M4L for that. You can load audio into the slots on a drum rack and trigger the audio using a midi channel, and it will be transposed according to what key you press.

In this plugin I'm working on now, I figured out how to manipulate the fold settings on the embedded midi sequencer to only show certain notes according to scales. I attached a menu to this parameter that hosts close to 50 different scales, so for example, if I choose a Major scale, I will only be able to interact with notes in that scale. If I choose a new scale, all notes in the MIDI window not in the new scale will be moved to notes that are.

So basically, you will be able to choose your scale with a menu, and the key can be chosen using a knob. When you pick a scale with the menu, the MIDI window will fold into a 5-octave keyboard showing only notes in that scale.

What I'd like to know is if I can monitor the audio from a separate audio channel(s) within a MIDI plugin. If I can then I can create a mini-mixer section for multichannel synths, such as the Virus TI.
