Alright - we're getting ready to launch Mauxuam's album. There's definitely some bass for your face courtesy of Dave Blackman @ Hilton Grove.

Release date for Viceversa (ICHILL CD 033) is set for May 9th. and samples are up now for preview at www.interchill.com

Digital promo goes out tomorrow but here's a bit of the inside scoop for the moment. Stay tuned.....

Viceversa is the debut album by Mauxuam aka Maurizio Liguori, a veteran of the global underground electronic scene. A distillation of music recorded over a 3 year period as he was traveling between continents, Viceversa is a nomadic diary with a multitude of influences. With deep roots in afrobeat and psychedelic funk while borrowing elements from dub, dub-step, breakbeat, glitch and found sounds along the way, Mauxuam offers up a groundbreaking and visionary odyssey into free range electronica.

Steeped in a philosophy of the simultaneous existence of opposites, Viceversa is a granular sound cloud of endless refractions that transcends genres altogether. Made with a number of contributing musicians including Greg Hunter (Subsurfing/Alien Soap Opera), Master Margherita (Peaking Goddess Collective), Shiranami, and Craig Musham (Organismic), it is a highly engaging album of intricate yet raw tracks that are sure to shake bass bins worldwide.

After taking a 7 year hiatus from the professional music industry Mauxuam returned to producing in 2005. He has since had tracks featured on compilations from Interchill Records (Dissolving Clouds, Sub Signals Vol. 1 and Future Memories); Indica Music (Vajra); and Electronic Soundscapes (Polymorphic Convolutions) and has performed at several top European festivals. The 2008 summer festival season finds him playing live sets at a number of events including the Glade Festival in the UK, Boom Festival in Portugal and at Electric Picnic in Ireland.

I didn't realise I had a couple of your tracks on the Dissolving Clouds and Vajra comps.

I'll have to check 'em out again...

why would you release an album if you don't care about fans? isn't the whole point of releasing an album on a label to get people to buy it? If you really feel this way, you should put your money where your mouth is and ditch interchill (and spare us from manufacturing a bunch of plastic and paper) & just post all your tracks for free on your website. then, and only then, will you cease to be a poser....cuz right now, you're just talkin' shit :-P

dear Vector

but...perhaps you got me wrong.

Fans are one beast
Listeners and music lovers are another.

Fans are in my opinion more influenced by a status symbol, by a trend, by the hype, by the will of belonging to something, by the wish to be cool.it is usually a very adolescential fase that sometime continues for ever.
when I say that they are deaf and blind IT IS AN IRONIC STATEMENT (like your "fuck Yanni")...but it is true that fans don't really listen to the music, they buy it because they are fans, and they will like it because they are fans, they are deaf and blind in a way, like when you are madly in love with someone.I have been a fan and I know how you feel...but maybe one day you wake up and discover that you have been a fan for years of some juicy crap.

Listeners and music lovers instead have a more critic attitude, they want to be surprised, they love their music but they don't let the artists sit and become fat on their glory without evolving their style, they buy the music they like, the music that truly speaks to their soul, without compromises. it is more difficult to get their attention and you need to keep evolving to keep them thrilling.

I am more interested in the second category even if it is less numerous,
I am sorry for my fans (not many anyway, you were one of them, sorry to delude you).

about the poser thing:

I already put some tunes of mine for free download on my site in the past, and I am actually going to put some more unreleased tunes for free download in the next weeks after the album will be released.

I don't see what is wrong in releasing an album for interchill honestly (not for sony or universal), since I actually started to do music again because Andrew pushed me to do so few years ago.
and interchill gave me all the freedom of creativity I wished, and supported me and offered me a very fair deal. It is a true honor for me to be part of their catalogue, if you ask me.

but as you know very well I never needed to kiss andrew ass to get a deal, actually we had few big fights on this forum in the past, but we always took it as a challenging discussion without resentments.

It was not easy for me to go back to the music business, I tell you...in the past I worked for the indipendent and mainstream industry and I dropped the ball disgusted, promising to myself that I would never go back to it.
It took me a lot of work to do this album, a work that could have not been done if I had to do a day job, and off course I need to make some living out of it. and I can assure you that I lost few kilos during last year.
so now off course I need to sell some copies of it. believe me that I would be very happy to afford to give it away for free.

still I believe that music should be for free.and there is a way to do it.and that is my goal.

I understand that my words may have irritated you...you know...I like to talk shit sometime...not only on forums...and all my friends know well my acid comments...
but maybe my music doesn't talk shit...so give it a listen (if you don't want to waste you money I am sure that you will find ways)...maybe it will show to you a different side of my soul.
you may not like it, off course...and you are welcome to critisize it also in nasty destructive ways (better if are funny ones).

with respect to my first and last fan

Just in the same way as what you refer to as 'fans'..you have people who I would call 'anti-fans', whose symbol and status comes from separating themselves from 'fans' and whose focus seems to be almost exclusively on what they do not like, rather then what they like.

As for me, I would always prefer to talk to people who are positive in their outlook, then negative, no matter how 'mislead' they may be.

Anyway, I do not want to start another shitfight and I look forward to hearing this lp.
