People people people also don't forget that you can masterize and masterize and compress and decompress and add volume, dynamics, whatever you want...

BTW reading this post prooves again that there are different way to "live" the Psytrance, we have freaks that use to listen to some psytrance everyday at home, and we have people that keep it for their outings at parties.. That makes the big difference, and therefore comes the argument dealing with "two masterings"...

I assume that the labels (maybe not all of them) know why they are releasing Music, and therefore are able to decide what "kind" of master they'll contact...

Nonsense, i hear almost all the day psytrance, coz i like it. And i want it to hear like party sound. The party sound have to be good as the home sound. There is no difference.            Signature

I think the labels should decide what their intention is when selecting the music.
Then a good mastering engineer should make a master that goes with the feeling in the music.

I also think that the idea of two masterings for the same release is a bit overdriven.

People who like to listen to intense party music at home will like it loud as well.
People who like softer music like for example prometheus do not want it too squashed neither in a party or home.

But I agree mastering is a very small part of the sound.
Both mixing and mastering is seen as some magical use of EQ and compression which makes a track sound good.

I disagree with that.
Good sound comes from using good sounds.
You can for sure make a brilliant sounding track without a EQ or compressor involved at all.
But if your sounds is not good you can try all you like...but in the end you can't polish a turd.

That was not exactly my point.. This is a very personal position you're expressing..

BTW the best way to "make" your cds sound the more like in a party is by far listening to them with (do i believe by actual experiences) a strong car-stereo..

Moreover, reading word for word your text, I tend to believe that you'll earlier or later get fed up of listening continuously to psytrance..

sorry if I'm           .

I've been listening to Psytrance since the very begining.. so that's more than 10 years now. Of course I cant listen to the stuff I play all day long, but the new styles coming around now make me more excited than ever.

Chris, is it an advertisment or your biography?
KakoOlalaJwal, car stereo is not the best option. Listen music where you like and how you like. Mastering is about to make tracks sound the same, when run after loudness is one of the tasks.
