it seems like a few mastering engineers have
steped into this topic...and are protecting
their income...i can understand that...
but i think just like any electronic and
especialy psytrance makers/produsers/artists
should know sound engineering and at least
the basics...so should they know mastering...
off course if you have a studio with passive
eq's and the new genelecs it would give
much better results but nevertheless...we
should know how to master...you can always
hand in a flat track + a masterd track...
peace!

And if u know at least basic principles of mastering than your mix will also sound better without even doing mastering.. I mean if the mix is perfect there is no need for mastering at all.. And yes u can send both versions, mastered-and say that u want it to sound like that, and a flat track so they can make pro mastering according to your mastered track u sent, it will for sure be better than explaining them how u want it to sound and much quicker and less stress for both you and mastering engineer and + that u will know how to talk with him cause u know the terms and principles..
D2, as much as I know Alex stopped making music for some time and sold his gear as well as those monitors but he came back recently and will get into music making again.. http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions
