multiband may be more suited for freqency dependent compression at mstering,with timing/ratio for each band for example .
it s basically what you do by sending the same signal to a sidechain input and equalize it, frequency dependent compression.
in the mix it can be usefull ,you can also delay the sidechain signal for example..can be usefull for fine tuning on some material or in artistic way. it s usefull too like a kind of deesser,on some sound you can compress a lot more some not plesant frequency sometimes it work good.
sidechain input enable a compressor to control the processing independently of the signal runing into it ,just to make things clear as it can be tricky with all this, sidechain filters,sidechain input... |
