almost forgot
I recommend using waves plugs for mastering on a pc.
any way its much better to let someone else you trust master your tracks because hes less prejudice about the tracks.
but if you must than you need really good speakers, and "fresh" ears if you want to get good results. |

hi there
mastering a track is really important as you need to normalize the track. normalize is for adjusting the volume of wav files to a standard level...
i recommend thereby sonic foundry's soundforge or steinbergs wavelab. both are stated out with alot of plugins (compressor, volume, normalizer etc).
to get the best results you need to have good monitors or good headphones. i have just good headphones (sennheiser).

mastering is also about eq, not only about leveling, don't forget this.
