Hi,

I have a problem with my pitchbend wheel on my midi keyboard,
Therefor I want to map one of the other knobs on my keyboard so it will controll the pitchbend ,
Is there a utility that can map cc number to pitch bend ,
Or maybe if it is possible in cubase sx , then can anyone tell me how to do this ?

thanks a lot
Sid

depends on the instrument you use. many vsts have a midi-learn-function or fixed cc-numbers (see manual for details). i didn't try to route the pitch-bend to another controller but i suppose it works like any other function, too. in cubase you can use a midi-insert-effect that is part of program, it's called midi-controller or so. that should work, too.           www.myspace.com/mentris

just make any knob send controller number 1 (you might want a range from -64 to +63)

good luck!

Hi,
Thanks for answering ,
But , I have tried the midi controller , you can not controll the pitch bend through it .
and also I can not program the pitch midi assign in some of the vstis (groove agent for example).

dtd - cc number 1 is for the modulation wheel , number 0 is suppose to be the pitchbend , but when I try this it does not work here , maybe someone can check and see if it works .

I think the only solution might be a differnt midi mapper ustilty then the cubase midi controller

As far as I know it's not so easy to reroute pitch bend as it is a fixed midi cc. If you're working with cubase, you'll be able to use the logical editor, which is available for midi tracks (mark a midi track, ->midi->logical editor) ... might be a bit hefty to look at but with a bit work you'll be able to write your own patch to reroute any midi cc to any number and last but not least a hundreds other functions.

this method also allows to use things like tune functions of "audio realism bassline" via pitch bend. (audiorealism doesn't use the pitchbend wheel out of the box)

Hi sideFXed ,
Thanks for pointing out this utility for me ,
It seems complicated , at least for start , so do you have any settings you made with it ?

I have started to read the manul about this but will love to have an example of controlling mid cc .

Thanks,
Sid

try this, it's from the audiorealism bassline forum. I didn't try it myself, because my pitch bend wheel is not broke:

in the input transformer:

filter target condition parameter 1
type is equal pitch bend

Action target Operation parameter 1
type set to fixed value controller
value 1 set to fixed value 1

selected module 1 active module 1 transform mode

hope you get a result

As far as I know there's no easy way to convert CCs to pitch bend. Pitch bend isn't a controller in the same way as, for instance, Breath Control (CC# 2) is (oh, and CC# 0 is actually half of a Bank Select message) and has a much wider range than a controller (+- 8192 as opposed to 0-127). If you convert a CC to PB (perfectly possible in Logical Editor I think) the resulting curve will be almost invisible at normal screen resolutions... perhaps there's scope for scaling the CC data to fit the larger range of PB, although there resulting curve will have large steps in it due to the lower resolution of the CC compared to PB.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

He's talking about the input transformer; it's like Logical Edit but it works on incoming MIDI data (eg from a controller keyboard). You get to it by pressing the button with the squiggly arrow on it, right under the very top blue 'e' button in the Input/Output section of the Inspector when you've got a MIDI track selected. You'll then be asked to select Off, Global or Local; select Local if you want the settings you make to affect this track only. The parameters in sideFXed's last post should now make sense

However the function of the setup sideFXed described is to convert Pitch Bend to CC# 1 (mod wheel), not the other way round...           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
