Here's a rough mix of it:

Man, that was one of my favorite tracks when it came out, I played in every set I played at that time and it always killed the dancefloor!!

And nice remix, but I feel in the spirit of original it could be even more aggressive, especially the main lead riff can be louder and more in your face. Other than that I love the soundsphere you created here, very very unplastic and tight sounding. I guess thats the Xoxbox playing the Acid riff? Sounds great!

yup, and the phatty is doing like 80% of the rest of the leads, FX, atmos, resonant drums...etc.
Have you heard the original recently? its not that aggresive...I was aiming to keep things calm to be honest

The bassline is from the phatty as well...not sure if the ADSR modulation index to the VCF is a bit too much, but I like that clickyness it has...cuts through in the mix when shit's busy.

General flange, chorus mod with sustain and the like are from the Moogerfooger MF-108M.

By the way, the distortion on the x0xb0x I got, by putting it in the Phatty and overdriving the VCF.

I'm a sucker for that acid sound, not does it not get boring ever, it still makes the hair on the back of my neck, rise.

Thanks for the kind words by the way

Peace.

I havent heard it in a while, and I know its not that aggressive of a track, but what I do remember is that that main lead riff just jups out right at you.

But then maybe by todays standards it just sounds soft, hahaha...           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

I know, I felt the same back then...maybe it was just a case of coming across some really good drops

Peace out.

i think it is a bit. i don't think it's going to take anything away from the track if you do lose a bit of that clickyness. also, it feels like the open hat is a bit too loud. but other than these very minor things, it's quality stuff. as always.           https://soundcloud.com/dead-end-dance

Cheers, but no I am not done yet, gotta do a proper mixdown and go over the ending once again...I am in a dilemma as the tune is one of them builders, it never peaks like a dancefloor smasher, does....which I like really, tunes used to be like that... so yeah still some music writing to be done, or not...its in the stage where I listen to it over and over again and see if I am still going to anjoy it after a while, or if its going to get boring/annoying...then sort out little things in the mix, probably record a new bassline that is less clicky...etc.

Gonna have it ready by next week and gonna play it in Paris in the Neurobiotic label party on the 14th...can't wait

Peace.

i think the bassline is fine when its in the mix of other sounds.. thats what ya want> if im ohnast it is really difficult to get it soundin good when its on its own with the kick with not much else playin with it.... dont matter who u r,, one of them things.. sounds fine mate, end of the day if u close it more,, not gunna cut through more than what it is at the mo...its one of them annoying compromises........

good shit anyways mate

Cheers.
Sorted the bassline without re-recording it, just did some very short software fades on the transients of the regions, just to get rid of the click of the amp ADSR.

One thing I noticed on the preset I saved or this bassline is that the VCO waveform is something like 95% sawtooth, 5% triangle...the Phatty's VCOs have a continuously variable waveform, didn't really notice the dial, just moved it until it sounded the best.

Syncing the 2nd VCO and playing with the waveform/frequency opens up a completely new scope of saw basslines. Gonna give them a whirl in the future.

I am almost through replacing all the factory presets with my own patches...Its great to have 100 presets, save a basic form of a type of lead, FX, drone and work from there.

Peace out.

havin sed that.. putiin a chorus or flanger helps diminish that and mess about with its postition in the waveform thickins it up whilst obvously turnin the LFO off and keepin 0-120 in mono

I like a good kick and bass on their own for 4-8 bars. I am not into putting FX on the kick and bassline to form their final sound. I keep them as dry as possible so that they are defined and cut through the mix when there rest of the mess that has FX on it, comes in.

But yeah, I do make some slight compromises in order for the kick and bass to sound good when the mix is busy, rather than sounding good on their own.

Peace out.
