Hypnotic is often the term attributed to the MANIPULATORS’ performances who today are delivering their first album, signing their official birth after three opus and many tours.
The DUB - ÉLECTRO – ROCK sound with energetic, generous beats which swim in a tribal and urban atmosphere, the Reims-based combo have already won the DUB background and crossed its boarders thanks to the power filled with oxygen in its music.
If the group chose the english term “MANIPULATORS” as their name, it’s in the manner of a robot-arm conceived for a single aim. Each group member has a function and the combination of these parts create an alchemy that differentiates them.
Supple and wicked; the Zitoun’s drums playing teeter between REGGAE, ELECTRO, TRIP HOP, HIP HOP, DRUM’N’BASS...
Cédric embellishes the beats with his wild and round bass which grooves, grumbles and vibrates by its dancing and transcendental undulations. On this unrelenting basis, some spirals of melodies glide and take us to some landscapes on the boarders of the mystic.
Nicolombien, with his samples blending themselves between traditional instruments, orientals singing and layers of ELECTRO sounds. Also, Bebido, with his guitar which alternates ROCK-edge’s riffs and layers of vaporous sounds, melt and bring to completion le Grand Oeuvre.
The Manipulators create a polymorph atmosphere which at the same time is organic and synthetic, tribal and urban.
They supersede the academicism of a Dub à la française, insufflating to it an ETHNO PUNK & ROLL‘s energy, pushing the style to its limits.
Reminding us at the same time of HIGH TONE, ZENZILE, BRAIN DAMAGE (with who they shared the Ostroda Festival’s stage in Poland). The MANIPULATORS sound is rather a PINK FLOYD crossing the levers of a KING TUBBY in an ethnic version during long nights of epic and cloudy jams.
In the Indian lands of a NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN, at the image of the hectic “Sai Tok”, the vocal convolutions outline the basis of music in a constant evolution in which the contrasting colours form some distorting kaleidoscopes. These reflect a multitude of emotions; HEAVY DUB, ELECTRO DUB ROCK..
