Does anyone know what Man With No Name used to make his music? He made the fattest bass sounds i have ever heard in trance and i would love to know how he made it.
I have heard he used a sh-101 for bass?
Are there any other essential synths or whatever i should get to make oldschool sounding trance?
So far i have an xoxbox + distortion pedal, i use Ableton as sequencer.

I always assumed the majority of old school leads came via Roland like the SH-101 or the Jupiter series. I know Dimon P seemed to favor the filters of the Korg MS-20.
Remember, gear was super expensive back then so it was pretty limited. MWNN drums to me seemed based around the 909 style l. Maybe to get the sounding "fat" it was layered.
