You know the sound that you get listening to a badly-encoded or low quality MP3 encoding, that "blub blub" underwater sound?

I've heard a couple of producers make that sound on purpose and I'm wondering if there's some way to do it consistently

Example can be found in this track at around 2:33:

export the part of the track you want into a very bad quality mp3 and incorporate that into your track..

i've never heard a sound like in your example as an mp3 artifact. it sounds more like a phaser to me...

may be eq in out a major chunk of the lows and highs and just keeping mid frequecies can give a similar effect like an old lo fi taperecorder playing ...and i believe this is what happens when u encode a track in to low fi mp3           https://soundcloud.com/hypnotiquerecordings

That sounds like the Spectral Gate in Logic Pro or a very agressive denoiser.

Sorry the effect I'm talking about is from 2:35 - 2:37, not 2:33

Does remind me of Spectral Gate indeed...

But I guess encoding at low quality mp3 should also work           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...
