Maybe I should try that out, I need something to break my Ketamin and Sniffing Glue routine...

I often smoke when I'm producing. But only at certain stages of it.
My fav is the first time I export, then it definately needs a joint while you listen for problems/identify things it needs.
Tried to make a song on mushrooms the other day, came out ok, but the bass was insane and all over the place. Next morning when I listened to it I went wtf.
On the other hand though, later that night I recorded and hour long mix session, that was rather trippy and is currently my fav thing in my playlist.
Long story short, I dont enjoy producing on drugs. Or when I'm drinking.

Im mostly stoned when "producing"(or playing around with sounds). Mainly becuase I only have time for it after work, and I need my relaxing weed after work (got a shitty, stressful job with shift duty).
I noticed that im more productive (faster work)when Im more sober, but I feel that I go into it deeper when Im more relaxed. I can dive into it for hours, not noticing other stuff around me then and it feels just great...even if its trial&error (with many errors still^^) themost times....
Other than that, I could not imagine producing on any other stuff...
I tried it drunk, it was complete shit.
Other things I do only a few times a year on festivals, and I dont think that I could ever produce anything in those mindstates.

No weed only hash can do the job for me. Other drugs are quite rare occasions anyway so they don't matter much, what I 'd like to do though, is 'exercise' my focus a little, under the influence of acid. Haven't tried it much since now, I was waiting to learn sound first and to have a proper set up for making it the right way. I think there are ways to stay focused, even when on acid too, depends on the autosuggestion we apply, I imagine. |

i think i probably already replied to this thread but, uh... due to unrelated circumstances, my memory is terrible.
smoke weed 'errday. god, that stuff is good when you are stuck on a track. fucking awful when trying to program intricate percussion, though. or making reaktor modules or creative sampler instruments. but for inspiration? hell yeah.

2 g of good coke and you are such a PRO sounding hero
drawback:as soon as you stop you notice what a fuckin noob you are..
but seriously. i produce all sober.. best for me. however an occasional joint every few weeks and going through your material breaks the "i know my shit inside out and have no distance to it at all" - wall and you hear your music as if you were not the one who made it. at least for me as a non frequent smoker. that does indeed lead to breaktrough moments, reevaluation of material and in these session i can also produce some weird sounds i would not reach with a sober approach.
anything else besides weed is a total nono in the studio-
