Hello=)

For first....sorry my bad english^^ Hope you unterstand it...xD

What think you about making music on drugs?
(I will not start a thread about different drugs.
So don't write what you take or what is Better then other etc.)

I Love it, but with time i lost a little bit the pleasure to porduce without.
I don't like when the sound beginns to be waht you imagine about he (thinking snare sound a bit distored and PAFF the snare sounds distored, after 5 min you think the snare sounding clean and Paff the snare sounding Clean^^)hahah......

And i find it's making almost always the illusion: ''yeahh sound amazing=) ''
The next Day i lisen it, and notice it's sounds not really good, ender wrong...But he inspired not to continue.
So start a new track/project...and I find it starts over and over again from the beginning -.-

You know this situation?^^

Greatings from switzerland ^^

Are you making the music or is the drug?

DRUG = GOOD / BAD

Tobacco = Nice / Bad for equipment and your lungs
Alcohol = A little does the trick / A lot can render me useless
Cannabo = Feelsgoodman / Makes me lazy
Coke = SpeedyDiddy / Expensive harmful
LSD = Inspires / Can't concentrate
MDMA = NA / Too rushy
Mushrooms NA / Can't remind indoors

Usually I mix between sober and weed sessions. All other drugs I prefer in different set / settings.

Nothing like a clean mind to get the work done. Some mild height can inspire but distracts.

i enjoy listening to good music taking psychedelics - i am often the last one to go to sleep after such a night with friends, and will spend the remaining time awake still slightly tripping out listening to my music and comparing it with the stuff that really hits my mind in that state, sometimes taking care to write down certain elements that really "affect" my addled brain in a good way.

and - i've said this many times before - smoking a doobie is a great way to inspire some wacky ideas and strange sound design. but aciduss is right - it does tend to make you lazy. all the annoying stuff - i.e. programming percussion, for me - seems really, really not worth it when i'm stoned.

in general i prefer to be clear headed when making music, other than the above described circumstances.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

ill make music any damn time, any damn brain chemistry I find it difficult to get clear ideas out musically the more altered that chemistry is for the most part, but its good fun to plink around, play with sounds and ideas, maybe some of those ideas will end up inspiring.

i was way more productive with drugs but clean there is a advantage for me, when it sound amazing,it mean it s some really good shit. stoned even if it s just ok i could trip on my music and think it s great..but clean, it have to be better than that , a reason why i m a lot less productive , a other is i get bored way faster.

i see a difference in the creative part: ideas, composing etc and the more precise doing part (like working out themes and tiding up the rows of music blocks in the sequencer). first part can be good with some. the second part needs focus and is better done clean for me. and it does not work for me to be really high on something and sit in front of the sequencer at the same time. making tunes is more for after the experiences.

I smoke pot almost every night, and review my work, but sometimes it just makes me lazy.

It's probably better to smoke afterwards of working on my tunes.

I tried working on LSD but couldn't concentrate well enough, still it could help out once you got some work done, to trip on your own music.

Laying back in my studio chair, switching Logic on and lighting a reefer is one of my favorite parts of the day.
Bud does not make me lazy, it has the opposite effect on me, it helps me focus more to the small details of the track...which some times ends up in endless micro-editing of automation parameters and endless moving around of tiny audio regions, trying to make that one weird synth beat/riff thingy.
I also love being stoned when I am about to write a new synth riff.
El cid - Can't focus enough the cursor leaves my screen.
Mandy - Can't sit down long enough.
Charlie - Thought it was working and making some new kind of great dancefloor tune, only to come back to it the next day straight and delete everything. The music was shite.

Peace out.

I realized that stuff I made wile I was high on weed was much more positive and dancefloor oriented while stuff I made sober was darker and not so much dancy For me hash is the best stuff for production because IMO boosts your creativity while keeping the focus...

Nothing.

Weed makes me lazy in all areas of my life even if it can be fun to make a song high, it's not something I have to do.

Alcohol in moderation can be fun, though it probably just makes me make sloppier all around - not just with music haha.

Painkillers, you can make some very ambient chill tracks that are straight up killer, but it's not worth it because of the ear damage it can cause over time, and getting addicted wouldn't be good either.

Shrooms, i could see potential in this, just because of how happy you get, how could you not make awesome music.

I just have my life set up where I'm pretty straight forward with everything I do now and keeping my productivity up is my main goal, along with planning, reading, and being the man.

I have had fun drinking lots of caffeine and sugar - coke in a glass bottle . I read deadmau5 drinks a 6 pack of coke or something for each track he finishes, maybe it was a 12 pack - anyways it doesn't really matter. If it gives you a little rush, it helps.

Also, workout supplements with stuff to get you energized helps stimulate your mind and connect those neurons to get you making some cool stuff, especially with psytrance, because it's so fast paced.

I've taken adderrall, and it just made me want to microedit everything and I suppose if that's what you're going for it could be helpful, but listening to music on that felt like a diagnosis instead of an enjoyment.

for me its not dependending on the drug itself.Sometimes the clean state of mind is the biggest killer drug,somtimes the ganja makes me concentrate and focus like a bless but sometiems its different and the drug make me lazy.But I can say each tiem on tha shrooms its really something special regarding music prodution.But these journeys are for sure not each month rather seldom,rather one time in year than regulary.Well meaybe a bit more often.These times totaly clean is killer ,Im drinking lots of astra beer this sunny days and less coffe than usualy.Its ok Its all in the mind,if you feel good everything is exciting if not everything sucks.Its not really about a drug.You can be tha narcoticum in full efect itself without taking any substances imo.But my harvest is reaching the end point smells already really skunky haha           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden
