Past post have mentioned maken money off our music investments, after personal struggles in my life, I have decided in sharing different ways to make music and get payed well for it and at the same time doing something good... helping others in your community perhaps i can enlighten some in here to view the investments as something in which can bring you money but also happiness anf self groth spiritual and as a human... One can be to help kids out make a program for kids in which they can keep themselves busy and learn after school so they don't fall into peer pressure and end up in gangs and or drugs, or other crimes. Making a living off music is possible it just requires patience, hard work and lots of leg work also always remember that you got to look at it all from different perspectives,
not just psytrance, or i wanna be a superstar producer its not always about the money but as long as your doing what u love and makin a difference to ur community, whether it be kids who come from single parent homes or just kids from homes that they're parent are too busy working to surpervise, programs like these can be targeted to kids in elementary thrue highschool get involve with your community people grow and make contacts and exceed in this life when the positive energy is there dont limit yourselves shoot for the stars P.L.U.R Deyan
Id like to see and learn other ways in which we can live off music production, any ideas err thoughts on the post please go ahead and input your voice Im sure this the only way we can all grow to be great folks and live a life of hapiness and fulfillment Cheers |

I'm in school for electronics engineering and will be also doing some computer science later. I want to develop music equipment and start my own company. This way everything is focused on what I love, music.
I'll try and help people how ever I can on the way, but I think it's just best to follow your heart and nothing but good will come of that.

the idea is for us to share ideas in living a life in which we are enjoying what we do for a living instead of working as a well payed lawyer but later come home and be empty inside, for reasons such as its not what u realy love to do, I recently have been gettin involved in my community maken a music program after school so kids got something positive to do instead of being in the streets, it makes me happy helping kids who aren't so lucky and who's lives i'll be changing hopefully for the best and at the same time maken money, which really makes me happy as fuk ... im maken my living do what i love music n art, and helping others
plus meeting people plus networking, which hopefully will connect to other people... good things happen this way, you can't just pretend and think im gonna be a big producer
and thats it, its a long road some get lucky but i feel that when we do good to others theres a god watching and when u pray and ask for things and you visualize it in ur head it comes true, if you want to believe good if not its fine but from my experience it works give it a shot, think positive and visualize urself where u wanna be, and keep that mindstate going, you'll soon be where you wanna be, best regards... and ur thoughts of Money sounds good and drugs and gangs are vital
is pure non-sense, plus the comments "do drugs to make music to make money to fuck"
is pure non-sense aswell no offence, but if you got nothing to offer to this thread just don't reply im asking people other ways to make a living of music, besides the im gonna make an album and get rich, get real man. |

I gave up the idea of earning money from music a long time ago. The writing was on the wall and even though many people refused to (and still refuse) to see it, I made up my mind that there was no long term future in producing music. (I had no intention of making commercial music).
Instead I used the knowledge I had gained messing around in my home studio, reading magazines, browsing the web etc and went back to school to do a sound engineering course after a short but effective career in IT.
These days I earn a relatively good living mixing and doing sound design for TV shows, promos, Film and adverts.
I can't quite contribute much to the community at the moment because of the major career change I took and the resulting (major) financial losses. I could contribute more when I was in IT.
As everything is taking off and I'm making good money again (fingers crossed it keeps up), I intend to reinvest some of that money, time, energy and knowledge back into the (psy)community so that others can benefit from it.
I'll try and keep you posted as things evolve.

thats the spirit mate, ur still doing what u love... i dunno where ur from but perhaps u can make a program for kids and teach em what u know, man the fealing is incredible
cus ur still doing what u love even though ur not rockin a club but its a different vibe you'd have to try to understand seeing the kids enjoying themselves its really rewarding for me at this point in my life mate, its building me spiritualy and that just makes my music much more real, and emotional...
cheers undertow i wish u luck mate, good energy result in positive vibes... peace |

I did SAE but I think that is pretty much irrelevant. It is all about dedication and hard work. SAE Did teach me some things but in the end, it is all about doing what you have to do to be successful. Usually that means hard work.

I think it also has to do with the attitude you have while going to school. I went to Sound Design School, it was one of the best in North America, but what really made me learn was that unlike a lot of classmates who were good in tests I was focused much more on the practical side of things. That does not mean that the theory isn't equally important. It rather means, while you're in there ask. Ask a hell of a lot. Because you paid for it. I was there day and night, every day, all the time. And it gave me back a hell of a lot.
I work both on film set and in audio post production and do some extra shifts in a music store.
And like Undertow I kinda gave up on the idea that big money can be made with music.
And yes Alistair, it is about hard work if you want to succeed in the wold of sound...
hard work and perseverance!

I was originally planning on getting a bachelors degree (4 years) but 2 will get me a good job and enough knowledge to figure the rest out on my own (I graduate in May)
With 2 years I will be making around $40,000 U.S. dollars a year starting out. I think I may switch over to some computer science but mostly do online courses. It may be spread out over quite some time.
I haven't built anything yet because I've been overwhelmed with classes and work. I'm going to start by building some simple things like LED cubes and visual displays. Then I'll begin into audio with things like hardware compressors & fx. I want to interface with the computer as well, hence the computer science interest. Overall the experience has tuned my mind and improved my life.
You definitely have to look at things from different routes. Sometimes the path isn't so obvious. Choose something that seems fitting for you, something that you're good at, and something that is relative to what you love. For me it's a weird path in which I see all kinds of possibilities that lead to the same goal. I can choose any of those and I'll get there eventually. You just have to work hard and never give up.
Anything is possible

Here's allot of ways to make money from music !
1. School Teachers (for sound, software, hardward, music theory, or what ever u think u best at.)
2. Privet Classes at home studio.
3. Making Playbacks for studio's.
4. Write Songs For Pop, Rock, Or what ever artists.
and there's few more.
all i say is, if u good at it, u'll can find job at it.
depend on how good you are and how sirious you are about your future.
dont smoke dope all day at home, and in front of the pc wasting time.
go out and find a job
