you can send your cd's, mp3's or anything to any of the labels, if it's good enough and they are interested they'll sign you up . you need to get connections with organizers and let them listen to your stuff, about money making, thats another story altogether . not only you have to be pro, new, fresh, interesting and what not , you have to know a lot of ppl who belive in you . in Israel especially, there is maybe 3 misicians who do music for a living . all the rest got a day job or two . so money is the last thing that will come to you . and i'm not cynical or bitter, just realistic . anyway making a living from something that you enjoy doing ( in this case music ) is a difficult goal , i think god is screwing with us just so we would appreciate it more :)

Actually I think that artistically your work will be better if you'r not dependent on it financialy. This way you just don't care wether your shit sells, and it let's you be much more creative. |

I don't think so. I'm just saying this way you don't have to start making crappy house/club trance/whatever in order to survive. You just don't have to sell out. You can be true to yourself and to the people who DO like your music. |

from what i know and based on my own experience, in order to really make trance (or any kind of music for argument sake) seriously - u have to devote yourself to it. in order to find what I want to say musicly, and in order to find my true style, i feel that there is no other way but devoting myaself to the music. and its a time consuming process. A LOT OF TIME. an old American saying says that time + money and i would add that u cant pay in the grocery with audio tapes, no matter how good they are. many artist are doing this full time - meaning they dont work but relly on the income generated from their music. i would like to be in that position also, though I'm a bit sceptic and thats y i dont think u can tell someone "dont think of the money". its impossible and i'm sure the pros on this forum will agree.

I agree - myself and my girlfriend run a club night called Planet easton - in UK - all the money go's to charity - so evrybody plays for nothing - we have had John Phantasm, Kuma, Anti, Jamoes Monroe(he did not show!) - and hopefully Pied Piper and a3d vision party coming up (those two still in the pipelines) but its dificult for dj's performers cause at the end of the day you have to pay the rent and the bills. I think for us it has been easier for us to approach the bigger players because maybe they dont have so much reliance on getting paid! But it should never be about money - do it for the love!! BOM |
