Hi.

I was playing around with a vsti tonight called Vaz Modular...thought I would try making some kicks from it...

I was really surprised by the outcome. Basically, I fed the filter into itself so that it basically turned into a sine wav generator. I whacked up the res as far as it would go and took down the cutoff to near the bottom, played around with the envelopes..and came up with a really cool psy type kick drum...

Sure it could be done with the likes of Pro-53...just don't use any of the oscillators...just use the filter as a sound generator..

I've given you a link to an image I captured to show you the settings if you want to try it...also uploaded a sample...it sounds cool...

give it a try...if you have Vaz Modular that is. Give me a shout if you need help in doing this in any other softsynth...

Yeah, I know it misses a lot...was only playing around with vaz...didn't actually intend a lot of effort. Just giving an idea of how easy it is to make kick drums...

easy to do in Novation V-Station as well.

Well, a Kick Drum is just a sine wave dropping from high to low, so it's easy to make in any synth.
