i would pick system 2 personaly and add a few module to it.. too much at once like with the shared system would be counter productive for me.. and make it harder to know the system inside out as these module are rather complex.. with just system 2 and a few module on top you can be busy for months/ years i guess.
if i had the money i would pick dpo math rené from make noize and then some other brand modules for more diverse system

Ok so just some advice here.
I was looking at my second rack being the Doepfer Basic System 2 but from what I have heard I really like the Make Noise style more.
I can wait a bit longer to save and was thinking what you thought was more value?
Personally I would go for the System 2. It covers the basics, gives you two voices to manipulate and it gives you more room to grow within that case. Plus having the Echophon in there will be tons of fun. It's a great and bizarre sound machine.

thanks for the sample mate do you used the corgasmatron to make the kick?
would have been nice to hear how it sound with more resonnance on the bass.
also wich one you like most out of curiosity for the raw sound, the rubicon or dpo?
Yeah had one channel of the PEG enveloping the corgasmatron pitch. Not much tweaking involved. Got some interesting kick and sine bass techno/house rhythm stuff using the second channel of the PEG for some more modulation.
Hard to say which I like best. the Sine on the DPO sounds slightly spiked. Maybe needs calibrating. The Dpo Square sounds fuller In the low end. But the Rubicon Saw has more going on. To my ears nothing between the triangle. But I think that would make sense as they are both triangle core.

@ozmike
+1 to the advice for the system 2. Enough in there to be getting on with, with the added space to fill when you find out what you are missing

Check out the Doepfer A-132-3 Dual VCA (CEM3360) variant. They can be found around $100 used and are great VCAs. I have 2 and I would easily buy another one if I needed more VCAs.
nice one with the doepfer, nice size nice price, does it keep up with the envs in maths going at full tilt

Not too sure. I don't have a Maths and I haven't used one since they first came out. It's really snappy with the Envelator and Silent Way. Works well with a Buchla 281 Function Generator (Maths is based on this env) and is really nice with the MFR Dual ADSRs that I had.
