Hello dear friends
I'm just wondering, is that possible to reach a situation when DJing is your only job, and it's actually enough for a decent level of life?
cheers |

I think it can be true with good combination.
Liveing in country with low expencies and getting booking to other countries where u get decent fee.
If you live in country where u get decent fees your living expencies rise and also those countryes where living is cheap also fees are usually small.
if i think i would make this as my job i should get +2500€ / month to be able to support my way of living in finland so that would mean i have to get 5*500€ gigs per month wich is quite impossible if i'm not a label dj on twisted or something like that.
Offcourse if u get good recidency on club and some other gigs to support that, u can barely live with it but i woudnt put future on that.
I know that dj's here are living from this but they make like 2-4 gigs / weekend in all styles of electronic music and organise clubs also
IF you want to make living from dj'ng forget psy and start to spin techno or electro

Don't know if it's possible with psy but with house and related big event or club gigs it seems possible. Big name DJs who make a living at it are doing remixes and even producing their own music so have expanded from just DJing existing music.
If making $$ is your goal you have to do what you need to do to get it, and most likely that means broadening your repertoire. Don't know many psy DJs who are willing to compromise.

I Am, but not becouse of the $$.. Beeing stuck in one genre is boring.. There is so much good music in every genre, why not enjoy it all

+1
If I lived near a place where I could get paid to play some other genre of music I like in a club/bar, I would totally do it. That'd be the most fun way to fund psy parties/equipment.
