Hi is there a way to make a kick longer by timestretching it
without making it sound weird. I use fruity loops. Thankful for any advice.

totally depends on the timestretch algorithm used, some are more metalic and introduce more artifacts then others.

still, the answer would be no. probably better to get/make a new Kick that suits your track then to try and fix the one you're using.

I agree with frisbeehead, there's no simple way to do it. If you just stretch the sample (slowing it down), it'll be longer but lower in frequency -> so drastically different. Then there's a ton of different algorithms that try to expand the sampling times while keeping it's frequency domain, but these will end up messing up your "perfect" pitched sine wave into another shape, killing the kick.

But if you synthed you kick, just increase the decay.

However, there are situations where this ins't possible, and you might really want to you that specific sample and in some place just make it longer (like a boooooom). Here I've put a reverb on to make it way bigger (long decay time), but the resulting effect is a bit different then a pure long kick.

But, I ask you which part of the kick to you want increased? Like, if you just stretch the pitch envelope, you have a long pitch drop sweep. Do you still want it to sound like the original kick (same pitch envelope) but have a longer bottom end "tail" (tdummmmm), or a longer mid "body" (tduuuuuum), or just sound like a laser?

Depending on the answer, you could possibly obtain the desired result mangling with the wave itself, selecting the part of the sample you want and duplicating it, having VERY attention so the final wave shape is a nice continuous line. And maybe there's an algorithm that already does this, under some sort of name, that I cannot recall? This is similar to a granulizer, but with very less options and extremely time-specific.

A cheap trick: what if you play your bass at the same time as your kick, and then fine tune the length of the bass so it's longer?

yeah you can copy past some of the kick wavform cycles in a audio editor ,use zero crossing selection so you don t have clicks

I would seriously look into synthesizing instead of messing with the samples. I think it gives a lot more control over sounds and allows more creativity and crazy unexpected results.

You can actually do that on FL. Simply stretch the sample sa long or short as you want, then open Channel Properties and on Time stretching section choose "Speech". Thats it!           ProtoDrive https://soundcloud.com/protodrive

You could also use a envelope shaper and add some release or decay           soundcloud.com/supergroover
