who were yours? (if you had any)

mine was mainly frozen ghost, i used to listen to a lot goa, astral projection's one of my favs, but frozen ghost was the project that driven has driven me to madness the most, althought i eventually developed my own style and it's a shame i can't find any good trance makers within the psy genre i'm now deep into.

so, again, your major influences?

I'll be the first, and I'm quite sure not the last, to mention Simon Posford. Hands down my favorite producer. Everything he does blows me away. I love me some IM or Filteria or something but Simon touches something beyond music with his art, I don't know quite how. Maybe I need more psychedelics! Aside from him, probably older IM or Pleiadians as far as trance but I have a soft spot for downtempo by the likes of Ott or Vibrasphere in particular. There's so many amazing artists I can't realistically post them all here but this is hardly a list of all my favs.

Simon (do you even need to put the last name anymore) is definitely up there. He's a legend of the psy scene, and his contributions to trance as well as creative sampling and sound design with Shpongle are major influences I think about every time I start a new track.

Vibrasphere is another biggie for me - smooth, clean sound - with remarkable emotion for electronic music.

And let's hear it for Sensient - the man's devotion to coaxing the trippiest farts, squelches, blips, bloops, and the strangest uses for the most fantastical wierd samples, made a huge mark on the psytrance scene, event if you aren't into the music.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

when i started my influence were a lot pantera,metal.. also all sort of groups from the 70s and goa artists, like astral, hallucinogen ,transwave, total eclipse..
yesterday was listening some old goa and was thinking lot of the riffs are similar to old trash and metal .. there is plenty in goa trance, work well on synths imo.. dimebag was a great influence for me at that time.
and now these day i dont make much psy..but it would be similar to goa trance but with full on beats..so maybe artist like master blaster, tristan chromatone and old goa artists influence me .. thought i don't really like this goa full on, imo no tracks really stand out with unforgetable melodie ..

unequivocally the Pleiadians, specifically the I.F.O album. Never before or after have melody's become so alien and psychedelic. The fact they can layer 7+ melody's in perfect arrangement is a wonder of the universe.

originally bands like quirk, texas faggot, x-dream.
talking around 2000-2001 or so.

but i don't think for me i can mention just trance. biggest influence was probably growing up on the 5 channel techno hooks of 8bit nintendo games.

Metal is my biggest influence, i listen to a lot of melodic death bands like Opeth, Amon Amarth, The project Hate, Mors principium, In Flames, Iced Earth just to name a few.

I love the sound of harsh aggressive leads, i love the energy and power. I try to implement that sound more into my tracks (not lately i been slack with music making).

As for psy producers there are only a couple i consider the greats, in amongst them I would have to say BliSS is one of my top favorite artists, he is extremely talented and his produciotns are amazing and extremely dripping with originality and he can play the absolute shit out of a keyboard!

Lately i have been listening to older Goa albums since this thread http://forum.isratrance.com/the-classics-thread/page40/
A lot of stuff i havent heard in years and have re-discovered UX's album Ultimate Experience and recently listened to the new Reloaded remastered album and have to say that it is truly ahead of it's time, dark moody yet melodic and soothing at the same time and could also be passed off on the dancefloor.

I don't know how to classify this unique style, you could say it's like cyberpunk goa trance or even dark goa maybe?

This is definitely for me a big influence today and UX influence will certainly make an appearance in my future productions.

I have recently messaged Kris (half of UX) for remix files to the Dominion track on the album but he told me that unfortunately the MAC died a while ago along with the original files

too many to mention them all . but i guess it's mainly dimension 5. i can totally get lost in those outer-space atmosphere their music creates. other ones would be the weird but still pleasant psychedelicness of logic bomb and the light, emotional and a little trancy sound of bpc. aside from trance, 70's psychedelic and prog rock like pink floyd or early genesis are also influences for me.

Its weird, since I started producing my taste in music changed quite a lot, all of my old favorite artists arent any influence on the music I make, Im talking Atmos, Son Kite and whatnot.

Now, my biggest influences on my productions are Burial, various dubtechno artists like Deepchord or Sven Weisemann, and stuff like Minilogue. I find that kind of music much more interesting now, the way they play with noise, reverb, space, syncopation, or in general terms imperfection. Those are things I never thought about and listened for before I started producing myself. Trance just seems too perfect, clean and just plain bland now.           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch
