Found this today on the always interesting SPIRALIGHT Recording web.
http://www.ambient.us/shop/free.php
Both the Magic Sound Fabric tracks play as 40-45 minute long tracks, kind of like an ambient jam. Very Nice.
New album out too.
Enjoy

I bought the whole album download from this site. I really like the CONCEPT of legal downloads.
I usually don't download mp3s, but i figured I'd give it a try with an open- mind..thinking it would be markedly better in sound quality than what shows up on the p2p network...
But when I fade from [Adham Shaikh - "Infusion(Bombay mix)"] on CD -> Magic Sound Fabric - "Levitation Groove"] mp3/CD:
(because both have very similar breakbeat, tempo & groove )
... the sound quality difference is very apparent!
I might be picky, but MP3 sound just doesn't please me... It sounds 'pretty good'... It just has this slightly 'flat', slightly muffeled, un-mastered sounding quality when I compare the sound to a well-mastered CD on my speakers or Sennheiser 590 headphones.
I am all in favor of this conept, but i guess I will have to stick with CDs and CD-R copies until LOSLESS, identical-sound quality downloads are available...!
hopefully Ambient.us will lead the way, and then I will legally d/l and never buy another CD the old fashioned way! I hate the jewel cases, shipping and all.
on topic: Magic Sound Fabric is awesome... a very promising US artist... I will definately buy his latest CD, on plastic. |
